    The energy crackles are actually my least favorite part, because when the beam retracts it is clear that it's just the beam extending animation in reverse (the energy crackles are in the exact same position)

    That bugs me.

    Oh well, probably won't notice it when it's chasing you down in-game and trying to kill you... but it's the little things that matter sometimes.
