Well it would be useful if the person controlling the ship you're on, who chooses where you get to go was on your side...and you could always use him against people I mean Dante succumbs very easily to peer pressure, even from just one person, like when he threw a knife at Star because Kinu told him to. He's a pushover really. I mean back when I had to chose between Archy and Kane I would have actually chosen Archy if he had delivered a semi-decent closing argument. It's not that hard to win Dante over.

 

That's what Kane SHOULD do. That isn't what Kane WOULD do.

You don't want Dante on your side at all? Because eventually there will be a fight I bet, a BIG ONE, and you don't want the scythe wielding murder-loving sadistic psychopath AGAINST you.
