Bug/Issue Crash on Launch- Black Background White Square

Hello, downloaded the game a few days ago, bought the 4 pack for my girlfriend, two other friends, and myself. I'm super excited to play this game! However, I've been pulling my hair out for the past few days trying to get this game to work.

When I launch the game- both 64 and 32 bit versions, through steam and through the .exe directly, I get a black screen with a white square in the middle. No sound of any kind, by the way. I've tried everything. I've read every post I can find about this issue. I've reinstalled tons of times, verified the game files tons of times, updated Windows 7 all the way (my copy of Windows is legitimate), updated my graphics cards drivers, probably more things than that, even. Perhaps I've done something wrong with Visual Studio C++ 2015, though I doubt it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it many times, and of course restarting when necessary. Do I need a newer version of it?

I'll attach screenshots of what happens when I launch the game, a dx diag in case you need it. I'll attach a log too, but I don't see anything in it that's worthwhile, maybe someone else will. Worth noting that the .dll that the problem details show as the "Fault Module" is sometimes different. Sometimes it's ntdll.dll (yes, ntdll.dll is right), MSCVP140.dll, but most commonly its uscrtbase.dll. I'm not 100% sure what this means; it could mean something wrong with Visual Studio, but I could be wrong. To clarify, these DLLs are ON my computer. THEY ARE NOT MISSING.

Have you restarted your machine after the uninstall and install of the VC 2015 Redistributable? Visual Studio itself is not required to run Starbound.

I'm having a similar problem but on windows 10. In terms of spec, all are above the games recommended.
I have tried starting the game from the steam shortcut and as well as starting the game from it's .exe files ofX32 and x64. Ending in similar results.

I have attempted a few actions such as uninstalling/reinstalling. Repairing the VS C++ 2015 files. Restarting my computer. Changing compatibility settings such as DPI behavior and full screen optimization. Also attempted to run the game in a the compatibility settings of older versions of windows such as windows 8.

Here is a log from attempting to start the game :

Hey, just fixed a very similar issue (identical to Kami Eater's) by turning off Opengl triple buffering in the driver settings of my video card, so give that a try.

I am also having this problem, and disabling OpenGL did nothing, sadly.

Hey! well what do you know. I have the exact same problem, down to the T and it was resolved right now by following Damah's advice and turning off Opengl triple buffering.

I have an amd card same as you Schpammy, went into the Radeon setting - gaming and made sure that Opengl triple buffering was off in both global setting and starbound settings there.

    Worked straight away!
