Cannot find meat....I'm using the bow

I swear I've killed 20 mobs with a bow across 3 different characters. I've tried different tactics like whittle them down with the sword, and also using the bow exclusively. But I only get leather....every....single...time. I still have yet to find one piece of meat.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've searched and searched for information regarding this, but so far nothing. So I've resorted to asking this on the forums.

Ahh, ok, so it's random? I should be getting meat instead of leather sometimes? Well that clears it up a bit for me. I thought either the game was bugged, or my copy was bugged lol.

 

I have never gotten both at the same time, either leather or meat.

 

I actually found some meat! Finally lol.
