Like I said, I haven't had a chance to play them, although I definitely would should the opportunity present itself, as I've heard they're amazing.

  2. RedScarWolf

    RedScarWolf Spaceman Spiff

They are on Steam and then tend to go on sale regularly.

I'll have to keep an eye on them then. And I hope they go on sale (when they do) for 66% or more off, since I only have $3.36 in my steam wallet and I don't feel like adding more at the moment.

I think I have seen Fallout on sale every summer/christmas sale for the past few years. Not sure if FO1/2 is on the 66% sale though.

  8. Some people just look for bad elements in games they should't look out for, it's wrong in so many ways to say Fallout 3 beats Fallout New Vegas as a game, huh.
I'm a Fallout junkie so Fallout is something special to me, I'm going to defend my opinion about the franchise as long as I live :)
Fisto (probably my favourite hahaha!), Ceasar, Lanius, The Burned Man, Think Tank, Mr.House, Tribes including the casinos, Father Elijah, things like ED-E and hell even Benny!

    @Edit
I forgot about Victor God dammit!

And yet the story was THE WORST part of the whole Fallout 3 game, I was always amazed how someone could possibly like and think that the story of that game was actually something good, making it stand out and be "that" part of the game which you can like.
It was a long, boring, linear... basically a one P.O.S fetch quest until the moment you save your dad, then it focuses mostly on shooting mutants! Hooray green muties! Because you know, you are the good guy thus you can't choose between "good and bad" factions, screw choices!
The best thing is I've played Fallout 3 the most from the whole franchise just to see more and more, to grab even more story but it just wasn't there, I don't even remember half of the characters, yet alone the story, it's THAT memorable and engaging :X

    Ugh...

So how about those gun laws in DC. :V

  10. Talon Company? What about them?

The story in New Vegas was even more mundane, it's like they took a bunch of little stories and just jammed them together, it was boring as hell.

No, real life, those gun laws got thirteen (maybe more) people killed.

Let's see, in FO3 we had to follow the good guys, there was no choice, besides all of the choices were either bad or good, nothing in between.
In FONV you can be either bad, neutral or good, you can be a part of every major faction, you can either be the good guy at the end, the monster or the guy in the middle.
The game doesn't force you to play in a particular way, you have a lot of freedom when it comes to your actions and choices.
The side quests (Which in New Vegas are actually interesting and they help bring the story together because they are actually a part of the main quest) are awesome and there are many amazing quests and locations to discover, no more no-name metro tunnel dungeons with your generic loot and enemies, no.
You have better locations often filled with quests, characters and notes which all help to tell the story of the place but of course you have to spend some time listening, talking and reading to get what's really going in the New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland.

The only possible reason in my opinion for someone to say that FONV was boring is the open world rush mindset, this means you don't really delve into the story, characters and the dialogue/notes/holotapes/recordings, you just run and gun all around doing "obvious" quest, not looking out for more.
Locations have meaning and often even story in new Vegas, they didn't fill the map with locations just to fill it up like in FO3.

Oh whatever, I've spent too much time already arguing and writing essays on Fallout related forums.
You like FO3 more? Fine, who cares. I'll be the person the om nom nom nom the good story myself!
    Muhahahahaahahah

    K. *looks at his 218 hours in New Vegas*
The gun laws in place didn't even allow for guards to have guns, so a guy went a shot up a Navy complex, so gun laws just got thirteen people killed.

  15. Murica is seriously fucke* up.

See I am in the middle here. I LOVED 3 and I also really liked NV. Some things about NV were improved from 3 but even if there was only more good/bad choices and less neutral choices doesn't mean the story is better to me. At the end of 3 there are only 2 main choices and nether are really a good or bad, more of a hero vs coward (for lack of a better term) choice. Both games are awesome we can't argue that! ^^

Not anymore fucked up than the rest of the world, but our politicians do make incredibly stupid decisions thinking it'll help people that normally get a lot of people killed or displaced.

  18. But the beauty of the RPG's is to have choice, it's a role playing game, not an action game filled up with crap. The more choices the players have the better, it doesn't make the story better but it makes it a better experience and even adds to the replayability value of the title.
Fallout 3 main story was bad, not the worst - just bad and worst of all there's not alot to it, unlike FONV where you have quests and dialogues in quests and dialogues on top of quest, dialogues, notes and more.

See I disagree on the story being bad. Fallout 3 had plenty of choice just lacking a "neutral" choice doesn't hurt a story in my opinion. There are some things there is a good or bad choice to and you can't be neutral really. Just how I see it.

  20. The story is bad, it has so many plot holes (no pun intended...) that it isn't even funny. I'll give you some examples of how the story and the world of Fallout 3 makes no sense, doesn't feel alive and overall the writing is pretty crappy.

Almost the first thing you see in the game is the town called Megaton with the nuclear bomb in the centre of it, right? You can blow the whole city by rigging the bomb to detonate and what happens next? Are there any major consequences to it besides:
    - Occasional Three Dog radio speech (If I remember correctly, not sure if he says anything about it)
    - Ghoulified Moira Brown running away to the Underworld
    - Your dad being mad at you about the fact you blew the whole town up (which no one really cares about because the "dad" character sucks too, you don't feel any connection to him during the whole game)

No wastelanders seem to care about the fact you blew up megaton, no one talks about it, no one cares - just like it didn't even happen.
It doesn't have believable characters, no real choices and consequences (Like you can blow up Megaton yet everything will be fine after the main quest is finished with the Purifier... seriously? You can be as much evil as you want but you HAVE to be the hero, no matter what) and even the game world itself is so stupid I just wanted to cry (Things like Big Town, Republic of Dave and so on)...

Just compare it to the choices you were able to make in Fallout... you could even turn yourself into a mutant and help the mutant army take over the world!
I'll stop here, It's too late for me to write with sense anymore.

You know why they are not mad at you? Because there is no one alive to know who did it. Also no on knows it was necessarily you (not like you went though town screaming you did it if you did). lol
