Wait! Ryu, before you leave for a thread, how would tattoos work on Avali? If at all?

    Permanent feather dye I guess?

    Edit:
Oh wait feathers molt and regrow...

They wouldn't, there's practically no bare flesh on them :p

They could still dye patterns on their feathers and down though, though these patterns would eventually fall out (Like birds, most of their feathers fall out and are replaced over a cycle of several weeks). Scarification could work on some areas of the body, so the feathers do not grow back in a selected shape.

(I don't advise googling scarrification if you're squeamish, many pictures show the actual procedure :p)

That doesn't sound hard to figure, in the case of furry creatures it's a matter of staining the desired pattern into the fur, but avali have feathers which work differently, so tattoos, while probably possible, would most likely be very basic instead of the intricate patterns available to humans, they would also probably be temporary and start to look kinda awful after a little while due to feathers shifting around, falling out, and growing back in.

And in all 2,500 page I don't think there's been a single useful post ;)

All right what I thought... *sigh*
    Interesting though.
Interesting... Very interesting. Then what about Avali albinos? Pure white feathers? Do they exist? What would their eye color be? (Red or pale-purple?)

    I...

    Why...

Why would you do that to yourself? Even as a cultural ritual it's a pretty stupid and painful-sounding thing to do. Though I've never seen the point of most tattoos either.
But there's even been two already just on this thread; the art advice and this information on scarification!

Granted it'd be a long, hard hunt to find them amidst the ravages of the prevalent insanity.

My natural impatience, lack of time to spend on it now, and diminutive tablet size, have shown me one thing...

Learning to draw is going to be absolute hell.
    :urgh:
    Anyways... I'M OUT!

I can confirm all of these except the tablet bit, I like my tablet

I have seen pictures of quite interesting and intricate patterns both traditional ink tattoos, and scarifications that did aesthetically work well with the individual. But they're the exception rather than the rule, most - like this guys, don't make any sense to me and usually only serve to express that this person has terrible judgement . Nor would i likely get any myself and I can't envision any that'd work for me personally :p

Meh, I'm kind of being forced off the computer 'for my own good' now...
It's doing the opposite of helping me feel better.
