    At the end of the day, there isn't a magic shortcut, you just have to experiment, and muddle your way through,. Of course it helps to understand what you're looking at, studying anatomy or concepts of perspective help a lot. But there is no guide on how to actually put a pen to paper, or stylus to tablet.
