Thanks for the update Molly! It's looking really nice! I know it's been rough getting updates out every day, but it's nice to have something to look forward to when coming to the site. Especially when that "something" is epic as was put on display today. I also think a friendly fire option would be helpful. Keep it up!

Starbound is more than just a game. It is a universe, full of so much life and immense detail. I've waited for a game like this for ages, keep it up!
Wouldn't be fun if there's a system similar to Ultima Online? I mean, if you're in a friendly town, you can yell "guards!" and then the guards would rush to help you with some mob! xD
I immediatelly realised that this could be used to do evil! Distracting guards so others could tear down the entire town. By the way, I couldn't edit my previous post, not sure if my browser or what.
I agree with some of the posters above, there should be a delay. Obviously different factors should be taken into consideration, like line of sight, hearing range of guards, etc. Her reaction was too early, it just seemed out of place. With the guard looking at you, it would make sense that he would open fire without needing the "call", but she should have a moment of "OUCH" before sprinting away, yelling for the guards. The way it is in that gif just looks... ~wrong~ with the timing, kind of unrealistic. I'm sure this is just a roughroughroughrough draft of the NPC behavior, so I have faith it will all look good by release, just voicing my opinions. I assume one thing they want to do is give the villagers SOME kind of upper hand so you can't insta-murder them, wiping out a village easy-peasy, so maybe on player-attack, it sends the NPC flying (in a hurt animation with an "BLARHGH" text) just out of reach of your melee range, and then have the villagers run at a slightly faster pace than you can in the beginning, so they will likely reach a guard if you didn't one-hit-kill them. Of course, if a guard sees it, they will attack, or if another villager sees it, they will also run yelling for guards, etc. Either way, it looks great, and every day I check these updates for news of an upcoming release date!
