I was always kind of hoping the Floran theme would closely resemble H.R Giger's works. When I saw how much the Floran respawn animation resembled the eggs from Alien™, I was incredibly excited. I personally feel the creepy style would suit their background better over the dinosaur/caveman theme they have going for them currently. But I'm very happy with what's been done so far, even with the above in mind. Each race is shaping up to be very unique indeed. Anyway, I think there is already more than enough silly, cute and family-friendly content in Starbound to allow for the occasional mature piece here or there. They got away with it in the 80's-90's! "Ghouls 'n Ghosts" or "Altered Beast" anyone?

Age friendly? I hope you don't tone it down THAT much. I was hoping to find dungeons abandoned with a dark backstory told from just it's environment, the way some games like Fallout, Skyrim and Portal did. And honestly in a pixel game, getting blood and skulls shouldn't be that bad, and will likely be categorized as "cartoon violence".
It's not as if they're going to make a candy dungeon where you need to help the Spirit of Friendship defeat the Shade of Bitterness in order to return warm, fuzzy feelings to the universe. But now that I think of it, that would be quite good.
Well after Oct 1st i think most people have their fix for a while so thankfully you folks should get a breather.
I can appreciate keeping things age friendly, but please make sure you don't do it at the expense of gameplay or artistic creativity. I doubt anyone's going to go around slapping an M-rating on Starbound anytime soon.
I just hope they don't completely censor environmental things like a small blood splat or something that suggest a dark turn for the worst occurred in this dungeon. If they mean removing nudity or intense language then I am okay with that.
