Oh yeah! That's what they meant, I always did like in Terraria how the terrain would open up into a cave or dip into a pond. It needed more of that and by God, we've got more of it now.

Looks great and possibly more interesting to explore. I wonder if you could add some sort of landscape going off into the distance as a background behind the terrain, maybe adding some distant mountains and cities in the far background to make it a bit more interesting as well.
Be Aware! The hype train is the destroyer of many worlds! Also, those bandit's should be aware of the crisis that is me! ... I can already imagine myself cursing at them for killing me for the 100th time in a row
Random merchants should sell special items that are only available from them and the bandits should drop unique item like their guns or armours or even treasure map if possible This would make each random encounter with them to be exciting

Is there any chance that there can be bandit traders that can sell you stuff you can't normally get from a regular shop?
Nice! Would there be the possibility of custom/modified/hacked/upgraded loot that you can only get from bandits?
I had a similar thought. Most of their screenshots show this, but the background landscape seemed oddly missing in this post.
