That's an opinion. These are facts: (I agree with your gen placing though)

Gen 5 was average. The only reason it didn't appeal much is because fans are older and can realize the treacherous amounts of inanimate objects. Letter generations also had this but people didn't seem to mind. My opinion is that it's bad. The pokemon didn't "fit" together. It's just an abomination of random pokemon. Some were good but all the pokemon in general when grouped together was bad. Gen 6 follows a cute theme so far. I hope they don't suddenly add a bad ass dragon with complicated design.

Megaevolution. This is mostly for balancing pokemon. Gen 6 has a lot of changes competitive-wise. Megaevolution is just a way to bring out something from former NU RU pokemon. For example Ampharos used to be in NU but because of Mega it might be in UU. Keep in mind that you do not have to Mega evolve and some people won't even in competitive. For example people still prefer normal Venasaur because of Chlorophyll. My opinion: I have very mixed feelings.

Not even HeartGold? Or does that count as Gen 2? I know that feel with D/P/Pt. I never made it past elite four.

Not really, no. The Black/White 2 games are good though.

I organize the remakes into the Gen they remade because they usually have very few edits. So yes, I did finish SoulSilver.

 

I'd say that Soul Silver is my favorite game. Seriously. In terms of pokemon games this is perfection.
