That bullet hell with the switching colors? Managed to beat the 1st chapter on hard before I had to leave my cousins house...
Speak to me when you've successfully ascended with the Amulet of Yendor. (nethack to be specific)
I'm more based on strategy v. totally unfair odds and luck rather than skill based games... ( I have terrible luck anyways, but with enough time I can play the hand I'm dealt)
I've played EVE dude, if you want something that'll break your spirit; there's only so much a game designer can manage. Hell is other people after all.
I have EVE installed since it went free to play... What kind of challenge is it? Soul crushing grinding? Uber powered players being asses? Constant bugs?
Permadeath...?
Well, besides the suicide gankers who make it so you never feel safe, the anxiaty you'll get for wandering into null sec, the slow bleed out that is a low sec war, there's quite a bit. All of it has to do with that game being a griefer's paradise.
Yeah, I'm going to stick with ridiculously difficult random generation, obscene amounts of complexity, and downright impossible odds... I hate social games like that. There's the spirit crush of an amazing run failing you to cursed items and starvation, and then there's you getting totally set back thousands of hours because a rich twelve year old decided to shit on your investments.
Xcom for me in a nutshell:
99% hit chance on alien
Miss
1% chance to hit on human:
Critical hit
Best character has died! Time to train up another shitty rookie!
Imagine having brothers who never learned the word tactics and make characters that you have to strive to keep them alive, and one is your only medic and like running face first into the Berserker Queen...
