[Tool] Starbound backup tool

Since my game is crashing way too often and since I've already lost one of my save because of that, I decided to create a simple tool that would allow me to make a backup of my save folder in a single click.

    Version 3 [PC/MAC] :
    Download via Dropbox [191 kB]

    Features:
    - Backup your player/mods/universe folders in a single click
    - Select the folders you want to backup
    - Save your configuration (ie. the paths, and the values of the checkboxes)
    - Allows you to restore your backups
    - Tries to autofill the path text box (mac only)

    Version 2 :
    Download via Dropbox [140 kB]

    Features:
    - Backup your player/mods folders in a single click
    - Select the folders you want to backup
    - Save your configuration (ie. the paths, and the values of the checkboxes)
    - Give you the size and the number of files of your backup

    Version 1 :
    Download via Dropbox [140ko]

    Features:
    - Backup your player folder in a single click
    - Save your configuration (ie. the paths)

P.S: I don't know if I'm in the right section, but since it's not really a "mod", I didn't know where else I could post it.

Nice idea, I'll add checkboxes to allow the user to select what folders he wants to backup.

    Thank you :)

Is this really work? I tried to back up my file manually before the last patch... but still couldn’t save my ship from wipe... : /

No, It's not the point of this tool. It only allows you to backup your player files in case your game crashes and corrupts your save (Trust me, it happens ;))

Version 2 is out (thanks to zortbg).
You now have the ability to select which folder you want to save (player and mods), and the tool gives you the size of the backup.

I uploaded the version 2 to the "mod center", right here.

I feel really dense asking this, but how on earth do you actually use it? All I got from the archive was a .jar file, which is recognised by winrar as another archive, and another folder. Nothing in there seems like an executable.

[Right Click > Open with... > Java TM SE Platform Binary] ;)

I kinda wished someone made an automatic backup. since if it isnt automatic i could just copy them out into a folder. Good work though.

No I've tried that, I used Java.exe and Javaw.exe, neither do anything.

That's weird. It's a .jar, so it should be executed by the Java VM. I don't know :/
Is there any error message when your trying to launch the archive with the Java Platform Binary ?

@klipwc At the beggining, it was meant to be an automatic backup tool. But I realised that making backups every x hours was just useless. Because you're not playing 24h in a day.
Maybe I could make another version of the tool, an automatic one.

A very brief command window appears/disappears when using the standard java.exe, which states "Error: Could not find or load main class T:\Starbound Backup\Starbound Backup Tool v3.jar"

    But otherwise nothing happens.

I don't know, it works fine with everyone. Make sur your java is up-to-date.

This will sound bad but where should I extract this to? Starbound is the first comp game I've played and only now starting to mod
