Welcome to the Rise of Sloodhon!

This thread will document the rise of the mighty kingdom of Sloodhon. From humble beginnings this Hylotl clan will rise again to once again be the bearers of Honor, Decency, and Order.

Sloodhon is a system located within the eccentric star Alpha Sloodhon Minoris.
    StarsCroniclesStartFullsystem.jpg

More details of the surrounding system will be reveled as they are colonized.

Individual Planet details will follow as they are developed below.

Planet "Hajime" for "beginning. Starter town to get food and supplies running.
    StarsCroniclesStart.jpg
    Current Population - 4 of 4 max
    Food sources - 3 meat, 2 grains, 2 vegetable, 1 starch, 1 specialty, 1 glitch, 2 water = health lvl D+
    Food count - 43 crops, 3 meat, 2 water = 48/10 = max pop of 4.8
    Jobs - 2 general labor, 1 miner, 1 farmer
    Specialists - 0
    Military - 4 militia
    Tech limits - lvl 1 wood/fabric, copper/iron, fire/coal fuel sources.

Our story begins with the exile of a small Hylotl tribe after their planets demise. Not ones for revenge, our small group decided to relocate rather than fight. They will continue the Hylotl traditions of their forefathers, they will never lose their place among the stars. These are the tales of that rise.

The RP rules that I will be following....
1- Civilians are needed to populate the cities, and must be added to fill vacancies and positions in the town.
2- Civilians need a variety of crops to live healthy. Crops include meats, grains, fruits, vegetables, sugars, starches, specialties, and a source of water (or oil).
3- Civilians all need housing, food stockpile, a profession, and recreation. Nothing in town can be simply brought in, it must be made. Bricks need fired, crops need harvested, weapons need smithing. Food stocks should be 10x the amount of citizens. (that's number of plants, not food)
4- The town will grow as more people generate, needing more services and buildings as it grows. The quality of buildings will also improve, as more specialists are generated.
5- The Rule of Law will be a Stratocracy - which is a government ruled by the military. Under a Stratocracy, all Civilians are required to serve in the military, may vote and hold office, and follow the constitution of the land. The Spartians of Greece are an example of this method of rule.
6- being military minded and honor bound, an arena will be the center of all towns in this culture.
7- cheated items will not be used, nor any mods. However, an end game builder character is the main character here.

Our first part of the story begins here.

    --------next week-----------

We have had our first barn raising!
    StarsCroniclesHouse01Barn.jpg

And with it, we have sufficient storage to welcome 3 new colonists into the fold.

Thippersa, a fellow hylotl, landed and joined our ranks, bringing with her a farmer human called Bob. She comes from our same tribe, and wishes to aid in our rebuilding efforts. Her companion, Bob, lost his home world too, and is quite good with the soil. He will aid in our cultivation efforts.
A glitch, calling himself Daru, also arrived, apparently fleeing for his life from his fellow countrymen. He has oversized hands and large hydraulics built into his arms, and is quite a specialist at mining. He will do well here, adding a much needed resource to our tiny outpost.

These new members will help develop our basic necessities to further build this starting town into a trades mecca for the coming empire.

Within a few weeks, Daru had built up his Blacksmith Mine Shop.

    StarboundCronicalsBlacksmith01.jpg

We all built the Blacksmith shop and living quarters above it, and he set to work smelting chains first. We asked him why, and he simply slow beeped at us, then stated "necessary to begin". Well, after a few days, Daru showed us what the chain was for. He has worked out an ingenious way of getting more ore up to the surface, with his chain ratcheting mine platform. A full wheelbarrow can fit on it, and a single person can ratchet it up from the mines. Less stair climbing for all of us!

We rewarded the hard work by planting some Diodia next to his shop. None of us enjoy them, but Daru gets a good boost from them, so we won't complain. More importantly, we are now at tech level 1, and can craft copper and iron items. We will also look to building more stable structures, using bricks, roof tiles and stone.

Probably the best way to do an RP build is to actually limit yourself. Your creativity will fill in the fun stuff when your options are limited.
For this nation, I went with Hylotl, wrote the RP rules to limit myself on expansion, and chose a theme. Right now, the nation is in it's infancy, and everything isn't too themed yet, but it makes one look at things differently. It becomes a type of challenge, to grow your small town in a sensible and aesthetically pleasing way. I would say to figure out how you want your rules to go... be it citizen limits, planet limits, tech limits... there are quite a few options here.

Oh, and the Sloodhon's have constructed their first, major terrace farm.
    StarboundCronicalsTerraceFarm01.jpg

This brings our number potentials up significantly, we will just need to build more housing/shops.

    Current Population - 4 of 12 max
    Food sources - 3 meat, 2 grains, 3 vegetable, 1 starch, 1 specialty, 3 glitch, 2 water = health lvl C-
    Food count - 123 crops, 3 meat, 2 water = 128/10 = max pop of 12.8
    Jobs - 2 general labor, 1 miner, 1 farmer
    Specialists - 0
    Military - 4 militia
    Tech limits - lvl 1 wood/fabric, copper/iron, fire/coal fuel sources.

EDIT: Let's make this interesting too.... any suggestions on who some of the new citizens should be? I'll work some into the story :)

  9. Never

    Never Pangalactic Porcupine

Ex-Knight Ruin, a glitch outcast who has formed an unusual family, consisting of his very kind Seamstress-Hylotl wife Haruko and their adoptive children, Hal (A young male glitch just out of the hivemind), Kotohime (A young Hylotl, and Haruko's Biological niece whose biological parents were slain), and Ryse (An avian who was rescued from abusive, Kluex-worshipping parents.)

Ruin is dedicated military (Probably worthy of being an officer), Haruko is primarily a cloth specialist but also knows a bit about electronics, Hal is general labor, but plans on figuring out space-related technology (IE starships) as soon as he can, Kotohime is currently non-combatant material as she's only a child, and Ryse acts mostly an overeager Squire to Ruin, though he's also fairly good with crystal tech.

Well, looks the universe got a new seed, So I'll be starting from scratch on a different system. I'll just start a new thread, and copy my template over to it. I'll add the link below once it's ready to go.

    Here.
