ship wipe?

im fine with the fact that there will be wipes, the most recent one hit me to, but did it really only have to be a ship wipe?
im deleting and restarting my character so as to avoid the bother getting the stuff back, im just wondering why only the ship and not characters

 

Probability the changes to code didn't affect the character data, but did the ship/worlds, thus a character wipe wasn't necessary, but the rest was.

 

there goes my anticipated armory, instruments and massive ore stockings in a poof ^_^
Oh well. I knew it was a better idea to pile things up w/out using them, at least I won't have a planet base to mourn xD
Now... to that toy crafting table!! \o/
