Near Endgame Travel to Star Surfaces

Since the game is separated into tiers, allowing players to have augmentations to both the player and the player's starship (probably would be called "solar shielding" and wouldn't protect versus many other things besides nuclear fire) in the last tier or two could make a way to go down to the surface of a star. This would be possibly one of the hardest environments in the game.

    Environment
The environment would be super-hostile. Terrain features would consist of floating chunks of heavy elements which could also be mined for valuable/rare ores. Older/colder stars (like red or orange) would have more/larger floating chunks and newer/hotter stars would have fewer, but likely more valuable due to the higher risk. There would also be no daytime/nighttime cycle due to you being on the star. As you go deeper into the star, it would get very hard to progress onward due to increasing hazards. The background would be a constantly, but slowly, shifting stream of nuclear flames and coronal loops.

    Hazards
Hazards would primarily be balls of nuclear fire floating around, not very common, but still appearing frequently. They would match the color of the star (as would everything else there) and do quite a number to the player if they collide with them. They would also have to worry about the gaps between the chunks of heavy elements and whether or not you could jump between them easily. Another hazard could be transporter interference caused by the massive amount of energy, causing the player to be unable to jump back to the ship at semi-random times.

    Creatures
Creatures would bear a very similar likeness to Novakids (who would also have a slight advantage on the star due to being made of the stuff). They would be more common on larger chunks and would also have a higher chance to be a flying-type creature due to the inherent superiority they would have in the more-open environment. These would also be quite dangerous, much like the nuclear fireball hazards.

    Specific Mechanics
There would be quite a few things unique to the star environment. One of them is the abundance of and type of hazards I mentioned previously. As you get deeper into the star, the hazards would be more and more common, forcing the player to plan moves carefully or else face a quick and merciless death. At the deepest part, in a very large chunk, the player could find the "Star Heart" (or some other similar name). There would only be one of these in the star and it would be used in the creation and crafting of very powerful equipment. Mining the heart, however, would trigger a boss/miniboss (mini because there would be one in every star) that the player would have to defeat in order to actually acquire the heart. Fortunately, it wouldn't be a load-bearing boss because stars are self-sustaining.

    So... "Sundiver", anyone???

Back to the topic- approaching the young/mature star is something too far fetched (also black holes and neutron stars)
    BUT
If we will going to have Gas giants in the game, I see no reason why same technology (upscaled, of course) couldn't be used to approach and land on brown and black dwarves.
And those should be rich in rare and exotic elements
