The Varan are a lizardman race inspired by Arabian and South Asian imagery and Babylonian myth. Our goal is to create a unique and detailed mod on par with those in the base game. We're a team of three with varying skills and each with differing contributions. We have big plans for this mod and we hope that the community will like what we've done so far. would love to see some fun ingame racism (speciesm?) between the Amfins and the Varan. With the Amfins using terms like "Dryskins" and "thickscales" and the Varan calling the amfins "wetscum" and "softhorns"
We may implement compatibility like this with other mods, when we are done with everything in the base game. The goal is to have original items all the way up to Tier 10.
Ooh, this looks really awesome. I love that it seems like it'll fit right in with the default Starbound races. I'll definitely be looking at this.
Making progress on the ship, but I'm still having a terrible bout of spriter's block. Nobody on the team really has the skill to draw up a good concept drawing, so its still sitting as an edited, recoloured glitch ship. Sorry for the delay, we'll get there some day soon, though. Haha
We now have two of three of the starting outfits and starting lore codices done, and while we're still finalising the ship design it's coming together quite well. I may tweak the namegen and create some more hairstyles (we currently have ten) before release. No further screens yet as Neawx still needs to compile the files.
The codices are now done, but we're having some trouble getting it to work in the game. Any good coders able to discern the problem, PM Neawx or me. We're also having a brilliant artist join our team, so we'll give him a formal welcome once we get to meet him.
Question: will we be able to customize their face to look like various different lizards, such as iguanas, bearded dragon, frilled neck, etc?
