The Axetlotl resembles a bipedal salamander, and is just a tad taller than the average human being. Axelotls are characterised by their prominent gills, strange demeanour, pinkish white skin and proficiency with one-handed axes. They tend to shy away from violence, but when threatened will unleash attacks in rapid but short bursts. In swampy or watery areas they excel in combat, whereas they are hampered somewhat by dry land. It should also be noted that Axelotls possess extraordinary regenerative abilities. Left alone, their injuries will slowly heal themselves. Behaviour Axelotls are known to live both alone and in small groups. They show no particular hierarchy in the groups that they live in, but tend to co-exist with their own kind and band together to protect each other when endangered. Their survival lies in their adaptability. They have evolved amongst dead civilisations, using the weapons left behind to their own advantage. They have shown no ability to craft their own tools, making up for this with superior scavenging abilities. Breeding Habits Axelotls are a genderless species, and breed in pairs. Their young hatch from eggs and once they have done so, are protected and raised by the entire group rather than their direct parents. After an Axelotl has hatched, it identifies with its own kind based on the first species it sees. An Axelotl cannot be tamed from the wild, but a newly hatched Axelotl can identify humans as its own kind. These pets are known to be highly defensive of humans, and hostile to other species including other Axelotls. Appearance Variations Their skin is known to vary in shade from time to time, a purely cosmetic variation that doesn't change their nature. Their gill and body marking colouration is a strange phenomenon, however. The higher the confidence an Axelotl has in its own fighting prowess, the more red the gills become. The lower their confidence, the more blue. The spectrum from red to blue gives a rough indication of how much ass an Axelotl can kick.

Fighting them in a swamp would be fun. If the water was murky enough and you couldn't see much, they could dive under and come up behind you.
I love these things!!! I would play as them. But maybe you should talk a bit more about their story and such
Didn't talk too much about 'story', but did update to include some stuff about their nature if that counts. Also not entirely sure about them being playable, they seem a bit derpy.
So, what your saying is, that Pokemon changed the Aztec "Ahuizotl" into a purple monkey, and named it Aipom? The things you learn......
