Zombies?

For my first on topic post, there is nothing up my sleeve! I'd rather have a sort of mix of a zombie and the Wraiths from terraria.
Bright red eyes that leave behind a few red particles moving through the darkness, you know not where it's body lies. You know not where it will go.
You know not if your own shelter is safe enough to keep you safe.
So... I'd make the mutants that were referenced earlier to have bright, blood red eyes and blend in with the night.

Something like rogue nanobots would be plausible and relatively original for a game (are you my mummy?). Maybe they could look similar to the husks from the ME series, to bring some glowy colors and excitement to the palette!

"Oh, great, an ambulance. My lack-of-health problem can be fixed!" - Or prolonged until you run home to your mummy and set the nanobots straight.

We have 5 "personality" poses in the game. We may add more. This is one I'm thinking of. Hold shift and walk all zombie-like towards your enemies! Or something... not in the game... but maybe... some day.

No zombies, please. At this point they're most cliche thing. I'd personally wouldn't ever make game where you are human shootin zombies. That's... just awful and cliche.

I dunno, while I like the Po, I could see a unique dungeon, that is led by a Necromancer (He's the big boss) being filled with zombies and skeletons, and maybe ghosts and stuff, they aren't exactly "brainless" as the Necromancer controls them, he just can't give them complex orders like -do a triple pirouette, then backflip twice and shoot ninja stars at all intruders- Instead it's simple things, like "Kill anything that movies, and isn't already dead" they understand that and thus seem mindless, they aren't really just simple-minded. :) Much like the Po, I'm sure the devs could add Zombies in, in such a way as to make them awesome and fit into the universe :)

If there are gonna be multiple planets anyway, there could always be a planet infested with zombies :) Possibilities are infinite afterall.

I like zombie games, but no. I don't think Starbound needs or really wants it. I wish in general that it didn't become a mod either because some bad things have happened when a zombie mod is made. DayZ is a good example. Its a great mod, don't get me wrong, however it made most people buy Arma 2 only for DayZ. And besides, zombies really wouldn't fit at all.

I think it would be awesome as a "random event" thing, to have some really old looking spaceships crash at random locations and have zombie astronauts come out of them and try to get you. Maybe the monkeys they sent up there? ;O

Zombies? Kinda sorta. I'd like to see the possibility of an " undead" prefix that can be applied to all random gen monsters if certain conditions are met. ( planet, necromancer esq creature or npc. Ect. ) that would be interesting I think.

Zombies are fun. I don't really get bored of them. I also don't really see the "They don't fit" logic, either. What does fit in Starbound? . But I don't think "It shouldn't have zombies because lots of games have zombies" is really a good reason. Given director mode, I'm sure many people could create entire servers dedicated to having a Roleplay Zombie apocalypse scenario driven by a few talented people using director tools. That's what I'm looking forward to. Less the atypical "omg random zombie" and more "We could use director mode and make a zombie apocalypse server" or "This is what happens to a planet when the undead plague is -not- stopped." Followed by a questline to find and evacuate any survivors, or destroy the planet, or cleanse the planet, or any of these choices.

So no, I don't think zombies are cliche. I think people just use them in cliche situations. Yes, I think Starbound can benefit from them. I just think maybe use them creatively instead of plunking down a random zombie that has no purpose to the game other than being a zombie. That's just my two cents. though. I wouldn't want zombies just for the sake of zombies, and I wouldn't want "no zombies" just because "zombies are too mainstream / cliche" or something.

But to be honest, I am not agaisnt in having zombies in games, I would like to encounter some villages or cities in planets, where some sort of plague has hit them hard, considering there are so many planets across the universe, it could be possible that some sort of bacteria or whoever whatever exists in those planets.

Another possibility would be a creature that mind controls everyone, and you have to find this creature and kill it in order to set everyone free or stop it from controlling other people.

Infected planet full of undead would be cool in my opinion :D always loved zombies and always will. Maybe the biome generator could do zombies vs. robots vs. humans planet? xD

I wouldn't mind the thought of zombie or zombie-esque creatures if we discover random space stations. I also wouldn't mind if a planet is crawling with them either. Magical or viral undead is alright in my book, provided there's different types of zombies that come in massive numbers.

It might be really awesome if the zombie apocalypse thing goes the way of Risk of Rain. You don't crash on the planet or anything, but monsters spawn anywhere and everywhere in different forms (and maybe elite), and their numbers get greater as time passes while you're on the planet. This concept could be REALLY useful if used on a special planet which contains rare minerals that you won't find in abundance anywhere else.
