They've barely been implemented. But, for now they'll be inhabiting cities, villages, and probably some of the dungeons that the game generates. A particular group of them may or may not be hostile toward you. We'll supposedly be able to recruit some to join our crew on our ship and eventually inhabit out claimed home planet.

    Okay cool
Though is there a plan for them to like actually expand on their own, and build for themselves?
And will they engage in relations with other groups that are not related to the player?

How does one change this little tagline under your name? Do you need sufficient trophy points, or do you ask a mod?

You can't choose your own title, it changes depending on how many trophy points you have. Look here for more info.

Sorry if this has been asked already, slightly feverish and as such my search skills are below average at this moment.

When we teleport to a planet from our spaceship, how is the teleport location chosen?
Is it a set point on the planet or a random point? And can we modify the teleport location, especially on our home planets?

Asking this because I just had an awesomely horrible idea of building a teleporter room inside my humongous steampunk jungle tree tower fortress.

  8. Far it's said, every planet do have one defined spawn per default. It isn't known if we can define the planet spawn, in a server it is likely, mainly because the teleport ship > planet and vice-versa only works in the planet surface, and not the underground. If we can set another spawn in a planet it would need to be in the planet surface.

So, assuming that everything that is covered by something else (roof, cave, whatever) is considered a non-surface location, than my plans of a super shiny steampunk teleporter room inside a humongous metal tree in a jungle are foiled. Curses!
Even so, I hope it's possible to change the default spawn location on our homeworld.
While I might not be able to fulfill my dreams of a magnificent base with all the bells and whistles hidden inside the "trunk", I would still like to move the spawn location somewhere within the complex.
Even if it is on top of the whole thing.

Another choice I hope would be possible, especially if the spawn location is immovable, is some kind of fast travel system within the confines of the planet itself.
Then I could construct some kind of teleport platform thing in the default spawn location and have a fast transit to my fortress.

Sorry if I sound demanding, but I remember the awful treks I had in Terraria when I had built my town in a perfect location that was a huge distance away from the default spawn point.
That was before I found out you can use the beds to alter the spawn location. I admit, I cursed quite a bit when I did.
And of course, I want to know as much about this game as possible before it's released, so I can draft overcomplicated plans about what I want to build :)

  10. I know what you mean. And surely even if not by default mods can set our spawn. Only thing is know if they will let us set spawns in any place or we must follow the rule, only in the Surface. Still it's very requested some teleportation devices after we set spawn in the planet to travel to several places that can be far away from where we are. We must wait for they give us more info or enter in Beta to check it out :D

It would make sense to have a sort of 'Teleporter Room' as an unlockable something or other later in the game for instant teleportation to our Base, even if it could only be done on one's Homeworld(s).

Having to hoof it to your far-from-the-default-spawnpoint Base every single time ya went to your Home World Base would feel... well... NES Archaic... :zombie:

Hmm... I wonder if Fully Underground Bases even on Homeworlds are gonna be unfeasible...? :(

    Fully underground perhaps.
My vision of an underground base has two small entry rooms on the surface, a "helipad" with an underground access and farmland on the space between the entry structures and helipad.

If underground, or underwater, farming and a teleporter room you can place wherever you want are in the game, then it would be possible to stick pretty much everything underground.
Underwater farming could be feasible considering it would fit the theme of one of the races, but even then it might need direct sunlight, so covered water pools underground might not work even if underwater farming is present.
I find it hard to believe that underground farming is possible, unless the devs have included some sort of greenhouse thing with climate control or whatnot.
    It would be awesome though.

Here's to hoping we'll hear more about teleporting and farming soon. My pre-planning obsession wants more information :)

Hmm. I know there's going to be "Mini biomes" on each planet. But is it possible to find "Superplanets" like Earth where every several different biomes can be found on the same planet?

I mean, look at Earth. We have deserts AND savannahs AND marshes AND rainforests AND oceans AND tundras AND volcanic regions AND islands...

    Wouldn't that be neat? Hm?

They were originally going to do planets like this, but decided they got monotonous and started all feel the same. They went with one main biome per planet to make them more varied and unique.

Aah. That's just a little bit sad... It might've been neat to maybe just have one or two rare planets like that. Real jewels in the sky, y'know?

I think they mentioned trees having seeds, but will these be scanned for the 3D printer to print? (If they can't be scanned and printed then I'm going to make an underground seed bank vault on my homeworld.)

Tell me something how do we pay the pre-order?

  18. At the moment as it shows in the page it only supports Amazon, Paypal and Google Wallet for Pre-Order the game

I would like to know how the combat system in Starbound is because from videos it seems the sprites move more on the slow side. This has me worried that combat won't be quite as satisfying as say for example megaman or castlevania styled combat. And yes I know this game isn't supposed to be like that but I believe there are players out there who relish a good fight with nuanced mechanics and such mixed in with all the exploration and building. Thanks!

  20. We don't know that at 100%, but what you see in streams is combat with monster behaviors desactivated, what means that you are no seeing it all. When we see combat with monster / npc behavior, more unique forms and attacks, etc... That will surely get interesting. :alien:
One thing is for sure, it is much more complex and complete than Minecraft or Terraria.
