It's a Homage to the Book & Movie " The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

I recommend the Movie, it's good stuff. I've never had access to the Book Version, so I can't vouch for it...

There was a Radio Thingy of the Book/Movie?

 

Will NPC's be usable on your home world to tend to your farm, look after your captured creatures or defend your home from monsters when you are out exploring the galaxy?

Farming may become a chore if you need to keep coming back home to re-supply and re-plant again

NPC's may take a bit of your yield, or love you as a god/king or dictator as means of payment?

so what NPC information is there? Will the above be possible?

 

Be Possible it's quite unlikely, what is know it's how they populate villages, can be found around the planets itself, they give you quests / missions... From what is more know: "Some NPC's will be rescuable. And some will literally need to be carried back to your base/station.", You can put NPCs in your ship...
Nothing more about that is not known, from what you asked only the "defend your home / village" is the more likely functions to NPCs to have. :alien:

 

This is rather question for developers: Does starbound support UTF-8? I'd like to be able to use Polish letters (ąęśćźżńół) in chat and in character names. Will I be able to?

 

They're using their own custom font, and right now it only supports Latin letters and numbers and symbols. Could change later on though.

 

It MUST Support. My language was like Terraria before update, must learn a new language for be able to talk in-game. lolz

 

How is the gore in this game? Will it be like Terraria with enemies getting blown into chunks? I'm hoping for a yes.

If I remember correctly, yes. They can turn any organic material into a fuel source for their power cells. Or something like that.

Don't look at me, I've only read their backstory one time!

Judging by livestreams, yes, monsters tend to explode into bits when defeated.
They used to fade into the background instead of explode, and they also went through a phase where the chunks stayed on blocks for a bit, then faded. Last I saw, the chunks fall behind the scenery.

 

In the last stream with combat i could remember, the mob were just falling back, and disapeared with a "poof" of smoke.
I missed Bart's stream this week, so they could have "rolled back" to the bloody bits. Or the bloody bits / smoke "poof" are the result of the "Blood option On/Off"

 

How often is the Roadmap page updated?

 

I don't think it has been updated yet, but Tiy plans to monthly if I recall.

What will be/is planned the max resolution of the game?

I have triple monitors in eyeinfinity and a lot of games have issues going that big (minecraft has issues, Skyrim's UI doesn't scale properly ect).
Will Starbound have no problems scaling that big or is it too soon to ask?

 

Iirc, Tiy posted somewhere an ingame screenshot while using 2 screen (sorry can't find the link). The UI was just fine, in the center of the screen. So 3 monitors should be fine

 

IF I were to start a new game with my friends, would we need to play the same race to all start in same the spaceship? And would that mean all our home-planets got destroyed at the same time? Or instead would we start on separate planets have to find a single planet to meet up on?

Also is there race specific quests? If so then say all my friends and I wanted to do quests to improve our race specific armour tier for instance, would we have to go through each individual race's quest-line each only rewarding the relevant race?

Can anyone answer this for me?

 

if you start a game with friends, you don't have to be the same race : you will have an easy way of finding your friends ingame. We still don't know how it will work (maybe a *right clic* "teleport to friend", who knows). Or you can just share the coordinate of the planet you're at (but I honestly think it will be more easy than that).

 

Eh. I'm going to be lazy and not do any research (besides the basic search thingy in top right corner).

Will there be achievements of some sorts? I personally like collecting achievements a lot.
