It does not require an internet connection. And sever owners can keep all character data saved on the server which prevents people from using things like inventory editors. But, if you have that much of a problem with it just don't play on a server with people like that.

Only need constant connection for multiplayer, probably. Considering how huge a failure the new Sims and Diablo 3 have been, chucklefish had best not go down that road.

Will Starbound have triple screen support?
Can I give all female NPCs in my base skimpy Maid outfits?
If I find a dinosaur like creature can I call him Tim?
Does having a base underwater, and the water is pink, make you a pink fish?
Will there be a lizard race at some point?
How many suns can one solar-system have?
Will the randomly generated names end up as something silly like "Gazhol Hotbunz"?

Every answer up to this point is misleading you.
Starbound has a zooming feature, and you can also pan the camera around. This means that, though it would look awkward on low resolutions, resolution does not limit player awareness like in Terraria. Certain items in game will allow you to increase that view distance as well.
It isn't a question of how much can be on screen, so much as how nice it will look when there is a ton on the screen.

is it possible that you could find a planet, that was made out of ice or water just like Jupiters moon Europa.

  9. Active Link

    Active Link Master Astronaut

    Well, there are ocean planets.

We know there are ocean planets like said, but there are proper moons too. I wouldn't bet against there being an icy, liquidy planet/moon, though it hasn't been confirmed.
Edit: Feels fitting to mention here that because planets are almost entirely one biome (barring minibiomes, like structures and natural wonders), if you find a planet like this it will always be solid ocean.
I'm fairly certain that the planet teleport seeks solid ground though, so you will land on an island.

I don't think it has ever been mentioned.

Pretty sure that was Kyren screwing around with the rain mechanic, and those fish also looked like fishaxes.

I suppose fishing will look a lot like it did in Terraria... see a fish? anihilate the hell out of him with your giga sword. Or you can use a normal weapon too your choice, they'll drop a collectable part none the less.
Real fishing system would be nice but I dont think that's needed before release and can wait for after the main stuff have been finished like space base and stuff. Otherwise maybe a simple timing game to pull the fish out. Better fish make it harder/faster and better tool make it easier/slower. It would be useless trying to turn this into a full blown fishing game after all, simplicity win here I think.

    Fish raining from the sky.
    But seriously,
There probably will be fishing, considering the hunger mechanic. Though for the preorder beta, I wouldn't hold my breath. We've seen smaller things announced, fishing is one of those things I think would've been confirmed if it were already in.
If Starbound has punch fish get fish fishing, I'm going to fliip my 2hiit. That was so annoying in Terraria.

Traditional fishing to me seems rather disconnecting from the theme of the game. Hunting aquatic creatures makes sense, but I doubt anyone who is starfaring and a competent combatant actually needs to fish at any point.

  17. Relinies

    Relinies King Homestuck III

    Kicked out of home
Only have what you can carry and a ship you snuck out with
Run out of food, minimal fuel left
Go to nearest watery, life carrying planet
    Fishing happens
Just because you're highly advanced doesn't mean you can skip food.

And by the way, the given story is exactly what happens to you in Starbound, according to the devs.

Will there be Lord of the Rings pop culture references?

  19. Relinies

    Relinies King Homestuck III

You can bet on it, and in fact unless my definition of pop culture references is wrong, we already have confirmed references. The list can be found in the list of confirmed information, among the confirmed is creepers, but I don't have a link. Terribly sorry.
That info is also outdated at my last check, but most checks out.

Well, game file size I feel would scale correct?
Unless it's streamed from the internet, so Offline Singleplayer suffers as a result if you aren't connected.
