Exactly how will multiplayer work? Will we have to setup a server like in minecraft and terraria(which is an absolutely terrible process)or can we just invite people to our game world?

 

You'll still have to set up a server, but they're making it a lot easier and a lot more reliable.

 

Hey guys I have been thinking about this lately, and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about this. I know we can name our home worlds, I remember Tiy mentioning it at one point, but what else are we allowed to name? Are we only limited to our home worlds or can we also name other celestial bodies in the star system where our home world resides? Celestial bodies such as: our planet's moon(s), the star our planet orbits, the other planets that orbit the same star as you, those planet's moons, and anything else that calls the same star system home. Futhermore, can we name the indigenous plants and animals of our home world as well?

 

Yeah, claimed homeworlds are nameable. I believe we can name the creatures we tame as well. Not quite sure if they want to give players the ability to name most other things in sight. Perhaps with modding you can have the ability to rename what you like.

 

We cannot name the creatures we tame. Right now the only nameable thing is our homeworld.

 

This is more of a technically question that I couldn't find anywhere else. Are you using any external libraries with C++ (I'm assuming you are)? if so, What are they?

 

I think they are using the libsdl for cross platform video/sound/keyboard interaction. I think everything else is written by themselves in c++.

Will resolution affect player awareness? In Terraria people with high resolution displays were able to see danger from a greater distance because they could see more of the world at the same time.

 

Judging from the dual monitor pictures they have shown us, it probably will. It's pretty much unavoidable if they want to have dual monitor support.

 

I think that would be amazing (even though I don't have a dual monitor setup).

 

Yes, having a higher resolution will increase your viewing distance.

 

How does vacuum come into play? Are there any environments where a space suit would be vitally important to wear?

 

There are places, like moons, where you have to have a space suit to survive.

 

does starbound require constant internet connection if so that is a game breaker for me as I have pre paid internet also how is the problem with cheaters going to work for example in terraria people would use inventory editor.
