i would like to come up with a new background for lintton, assuming there's no way out of the whole terran protectorate thing.

My goal is to build a small village, do some procedurally generated quests, make friends with NPCs and then recruit them for my ship :)

Hmm... Personal goals. Probably won't think of all them in one sitting so here is a few in the very least:

    1. Remake my primary character, and possibly other characters; if not new ones that I can come up with.
    2. Have a copy of starbound in another directory. So I can have one using mods in my own time.
    3. Turtle my way through the game building here and there. Play as I go kind of way of it.
    4. Search for my beloved planet, if it exists; I have to find those non-hostile Koalas on a decent livable planet.
    5. Explore the different paths of progression.
    6. Build my homeworld, once I find it; that would probably take a while.
    7. Have a home base while I search for my homeworld.
    8. Collect all those things there is to collect, then sort & store many that can not be displayed; also displaying and building places for displays.
    9. Remodel areas in secret, as the secret thief builder. Hope I am able to accomplish this in those lovely cities...
    10. Setup a telepad network, as well flag network.
    11. Bookmark everything thing I find interesting; which in my case would be a lot of bookmarks.
    12. Build even more stuff as I explore.
    13. Go on an Adventure alongside exploring & treasure hunting.
    14. Mess around with the colony system, farming system, and continue to build; fleshing out an area of the universe in the way I want it to look.
    15. Build my own home somewhere in the universe. This is for each of the characters that I would make.
    16. Capture many mobs, pets, and the like to have, use, and decorate the places, towns, and areas I build. NPCs deserve more than just guards to protect, as well a zoo to stroll.
    17. Free a glitch Castle from tyranny. One of the ones that are attack on sight.
    18. Remodel hostile places I have conquered, which means... You guessed it building even more.
    19. Go swimming in the deep oceans, as well boating.
    20. Play around with the vehicles, weapons, instruments, and other fancy things I find.
    21. Make a underground shelter for citizens to flock to on a hostile planet.
    22. Build a museum or few of many kinds throughout the universe and connect them into the telepad network.
    23. Build many villages across the universe still fleshing out my envision of the empire or multiple empires.
    24. Continue my search for my longed for planet of Koalas.
    25. Rest for a day at one of my local towns/villages I have made.

I could come up with more, but I tend to just play as I go type of playstyle, and go from moment to moment. One step at a time. :nurutease:

I haven't really gotten into building because of universe wipes and how I get attached to things too often, so i'm hoping by this update I can create an actual home instead of just living like a nomad. I'd love to make a huge Avian settlement.
I love your goal of collecting every outfit. I think i'll have that as a goal too. With mannequins being a thing in 1.0, i'd just love to have a building that displays ALL THE OUTFITS!
I also want to capture all unique monsters and if possible display them somewhere. Gotta catch 'em all!

Gonna play through the whole story as each one of my characters, and then build a colony on a well-named planet. :)
    And mod. definitely mod.

I also have not done a ton of building yet for a similar reason, also I can be pretty particular about where I want to build. Not only does the star system have to have a name I like, things like dirt color, general background for the planet, and the natural landscape of a planet are all things I look at before building. Part of why in a game like Terraria I often will gen several worlds before getting into any serious building, as working with the terrain is much more interesting instead of just flat out leveling everything for screens and then building things back up.

So I guess one of the goals I would have would be finding a very interesting and well named planet to build a mega-structure on and make my homebase.

All of them so far are space game fanatics, so I'm pretty sure they'll love it...I hope.

And hopefully the next update after 1.0 won't make the world save incompatible (Which it probably will :().

Make a gigantic system of apartments on each planet I visit, collecting rent from each one, so basically I become a super rich landlord.
My first colony in the Nightly, along with the crops grown there, got me to 12k. I also got a Pixel Printer, so I can print furniture, storage, etc without needing to craft it.
So I printed up some of the shipping containers I got from a hylotl city, and went to town.
I recently upgraded my ship to the final tier. It's a bit empty, and the walls look really ugly. Any way I can improve that is appreciated.

1.0 seem to be bringing so many things I'm not certain yet all I would wishes to do. It certainly features a LOT already :O

"Build all the colonies within every unique environment that I find as much as possible" will certainly be part of it. I recall playing one of the early versions of stable that supported the modern colony system that I'd travelled on a desert planet to find a relatively large chasm between two mountains. It inspired me to build a literal bridge between them, and then to start building a town/colony ON the bridge.

It then evolved into this awesome little settlement of multiple layers building down from the bridge into further scaffold running the length of the chasm, mixing styles a bit it kind of felt like some of these "mountainsides steampunk mining towns" found in some fantasy/anime works and the like, with pipes and everything connecting various things like fountains(because I could) in one of the "outside" scaffold layers under the bridge with no background walls except for aesthetic support collumns.

    I still kind of want to remake that settlement someday ^^;

I also recall with fondness the time I found an hostile Avian Ascension Tower and turned it into an apartment complex after killing off the guards inside(I'm VERY fond of repurposing worldgen-made ruins and microdungeons into the starting blocks of a colony like when I later turned an abandoned sandstone bricks "fort" next to ruined platforms into a sort of mini outpost deal of it's own too.

With 1.0 I'm definitely thinking of starting out a fossil museum. Maybe even use the new monster tether station to build a monster zoo to display the monsters I've captured(the new pet crafting station include a "monster tether" craftable that literally looks like a standing post you can put a capture pod into, leading the monster to be "bound" to the area of the tether station not unlike a guard. Or a zoo animal you could craft a room around of).

1.0 will add several things for our bases:

    - Fluffalo farm
    - Mannequin display
    - Fossil museum
    - Zoo
    - New dungeons to expand
    - High tier multi-biome planets (there is a rumor...)

@Ludovic if you can turn an ascension tower in an apartment complex, imagine what you could do with a hylotl underwater city...

Edit: I meant underwater city. Thanks for pointing it out @Hawklaser

This is kind of the thing I look around for, cool spots that inspire ideas for building, especially awesome if the planet has a good name too.

I have yet to see an underground city of theirs. Underwater ones yes, abandoned haunted surface ones yes, but not an underground city to work with yet. Though have found an almost endless Gnome city underground on a planet before.

Short term goals: establish a multi-species starship without having my crew kill each other (or me). Get a pet weasel.

Completing the full story is a short term goal?

Anyways, my goal so far is to upgrade my OS to 64 bit sometime before 1.0 comes. Once it's there, I'd like to play through it and explore - on one of my characters, I'd like to build a large space station somewhere where all the characters can travel to resupply, use the station's farm or share and store resources - making it something akin to a second Outpost.

For me it is short term as my long term goals in comparison might take months. Also as for the upgrading your OS to 64 bit be careful with that. I did that somewhat recently myself. If you got the Windows 10 upgrade while it was free (and it was 32 bit as it would be if your OS before was 32 bit) then later reinstall it as 64 bit it may no longer remember you getting it while it was free. You may need a key from a different windows product or be willing to buy a new key when you upgrade or else you may be stuck with a nasty watermark at the corner of your screen that overlap all windows.

There are programs made just to remove it but if you are the type that want a legit activated windows then it might just be easier to make sure you have a product key on standby before you even touch it.

My goal is to be bothered enough to finish the new story mode.

I already done it on Stable, and I really don't wanna find myself making a new character for 1.0 cus all the old ones went just for a new story.

I have a hard time making my way out of the first system. My initial home tends to get a bit...elaborate.

On a side note, is it rainy as all hell on other people's first planets? It rains almost CONSTANTLY to the point where I have to plan for where water will pool. I came back to my house one day to finish it only to discover enough water had gotten inside that fish were swimming around.

Oh, this time is different. There will be much more story and it's definitely worth creating a new character for it. :nuruhype:

If the characters are deleted in the release of the actual game then sadly I will have to grim and bare the new story.

If not then its good news I would have not lost my character and will continue at endgame making stuffs. I'd rather not have to lose all of my progression just for a new story. Paaah.
