Unless if this was suggested already, I'd like to see a planet made entirely of ash with these large metal forts built out of it containing goodies inside. (the only goodies on the planet available; think level 100.) The forts would be guarded by these cyborgs on large metal walkers. There would also be several "cloaked" units maybe half hidden in the ash or something. That way it would be nigh impossible for a new member to land and quickly make a gun-and-run across the planet. (They'd probably die in two seconds.)

"A drift of snow is tossed in all directions from the decreasing in pressure from the thrusters on your landing aircraft. You step into the powder that blankets the vast landscape.Quickly after, your crew scans the surroundings for hostile natives. In all directions you see small islands hovering over the pines, which peek out from under the snow that layers the planet's beautiful landscape.

If you couldn't tell that was my terrible description of landing on my perfect planet.

How about a huge (I mean absolutely gigantic) space station or ship that became so large from modifications, it sort of buckled under it's own gravity, forcing it into a sphere shaped ball of twisted spaceship paneling, parts, and thrusters. It'd be cool cause you could explore 'caves' which are really just intact hallways and rooms. And it wouldn't just be interiors that are right side up. You'd come across rooms that were forced on their sides or upside down, maybe even diagonal.

Most of the 'planet' wouldn't be functional, but if you were able to repair all the broken electronics, you could bring power to what isn't completely destroyed. You might gain access to secret, locked rooms and find super advanced tec, or maybe some science projects (Hopefully ones that gone horribly, horribly wrong) that may add danger to the situation.

I'd love to find out that they had an alien artifact on board, that caused something close to what happened in deadspace lore. You'd have to fight the zombie remnants of the ancient crew D:

And maybe, despite not having an atmosphere, plants or other organic material from the ship's labs found a way to survive, despite Oxygen.

My dream planet is a decent size but not huge. It is based off of water so a under water civilization but lots of cool stuff above water too ( not unlike noki bay from Super Mario sunshine) and lots of life meaning plants and cool fish.

    Hmm...
A planet created from parts of other planets. It's not actually a planet, but a floating ring of Moon-sized planets, each with it's own thriving flora and fauna, but no civilization to speak of, save for some ruins of an extremely technologically advanced civilization, that was wiped out by a mysterious enemy. At the core is a black, void-like orb, that creates the gravitational field which holds the planets in place. In the void-core, is a medium sized space station that created this core, so as to save it from that unknown enemy. This lead to a siege, but eventually the crew within the station starved to death. The core, though, was not shut down. From any one of the planets, you can see the core, with the station inside it. If only you could find access to the station... Though there seems to be many clues of finding the entrance within the ruins. The reason for trying to get into the station is simple; Who knows when the unknown enemy will come back?

Seems quite interesting. Though I can't help but think that if this "enemy" returned, the player would just find advanced technology from another planet to defeat it.

Well, if you started on it (as, say, the last surviving member of the ruined civilization), the only way to get advanced tech would be to get to the station, or being helped by friends. But if you landed on the planet, then yeah, good point.

    Nice planet.

My perfect planet would be a mountainous terrain with pools of silky water. Just like any old place. I just take it simple.

That actually seems like a very interesting idea for some sort of challenge map. I just don't see it meshing well with the 'Explore all of the places' attitude that Starbound encourages. Great concept though.

If it was implemented (a far fetched conclusion), it would work best as a side-quest in order to get good stuffs?
    Meh, well...

It would work well if you were stranded on the planet or something. Possibly only able to defeat the enemy with the technology in the space station?
    ALL OF MY YES!
