    Ard Galen Big Damn Hero

Colonizing a planet, building a base, colonize the next planet, building another base, colonizing the next planet, building... You know what i'm talking about.
Terraform planets! Transform a desert planet to a ocean by digging the whole surface and flooding it with water! Just kidding. About the water, at least, not about the bases. And not about the colonizing.

    Spike Supernova

Unfortunately you can only colonize and terraform a limited number of planets. Sorry.

As far as i know nothing stops you to build on unlimited planets. You can't "safe" build, but you can build. You just have to accept if it gets destroyed by some random event.

    BrutorDragon Tiy's Beard

The fact it is pretty much never-ending. The near limitless generation. Mechs.
And the fact me and my clan are going to have the greatest shinangians in the universe in it...

The fact that this game has 450,000,000 times (Yes, that is the actual number.) the stars than we have in our entire galaxy astounds me; I can't wait to explore them all.

I... er.... nope. I can't find the source that told me that. Well I guess you're right then; the devs must have changed their tactics a little.

  14. Lonewolf222

    Lonewolf222 Title Not Found

You know, its not any "one" feature for me. I think its more like... Them combined.

If it was just everything being randomly generated, I don't think I'd care nearly as much. It'd just feel like a crappy episode of The Super Mario brothers "super show" where ANYTHING GOES. SPYWORLD, POPTART WORLD, MADMAX WORLD. All without any real meaning or structure. Anyone who grew up watching this knows "exactly" what I mean. BTW, Thanks Nostalgia Critic for reminding me of this boring soulless travesty of a show. God forbid he makes an episode on "Bump in the Night"... DOH. Basically, This show lacked all structure.

No. Its the fact that its got a story to it and a lot of character and description. And that you've even got a story to go through, a "purpose" if you would to colonize and go throughout its universe. That there's so much random generation and an untold amount of things to see(that you may only see once) makes you feel like your exploring a truly limitless universe on your journey to find a new home.

Its got story and a "REAL" backround. That's something Minecraft and Terraria never had. And for me, that's what builds it.

  16. DiscontentWithTheSystem

    DiscontentWithTheSystem Big Damn Hero

Exploring new planets with my friends, and the animal capturing feature.

Sharing a galaxy together and running an animal fighting ring will be fun.

The tech tree and cooking. I can't wait to be an intergalactic chef.

  18. doguso

    doguso Big Damn Hero

The technology advancement/random items. I'd love to try various awesome weapons/tech/bases on difficult random planets/bosses and see what I can do with them.

  19. IndieGamerRid

    IndieGamerRid Zero Gravity Genie

Kind of a duplicate thread, but it doesn't matter that much. (I'll copy-paste my answer for wont of laziness.)

If I had to single out one mechanic, I'd probably go for fossils. I don't know why they didn't get more love, it's a fantastic addition to the game depending on how meaningful it is. It'll certainly make mining and underground exploration a lot more interesting, which is often a problem in this infantile genre. And the collection aspect of it is just fun for me. Besides, you can resurrect things from them!

It's a bit of a weird opinion, especially since I don't always like collectibles, but these are an exception and I'm excited for them. All the random generation and monster taming is really cool as well, and looting dungeons is going to be as fun as ever, but I think this feature's going to have a special place in my heart.
