Your Hotbar

  1. So, I was pondering on the complexity of what they call the Hotbar. For those of you not familiar with modern gangster gamer lingo, your hotbar is that bar on your screen with the numbers on it, for quickly accessing items.

Keep in mind that the current Hotbar in Starbound has an item equipped to the left/right mouse buttons, and 10 additional slots.

So, I ask you, what's in your wallet hotbar?
Or, will be, for that matter. Because, well, the game isn't out yet.

In my left mouse button slot, I'd imagine to have some sort of Katana. In my right, a Crossbow. Who'd you say killed the empress? Me? Naw.
The rest of my hotbar would probably include a stack of health potions, buff-inflicting items, blocks to build stuff with, my trusty digging tool, some torches, and, most importantly, ladders.

The left and right mouse buttons are to show you which items you have eqquiped. They still have to be in your hotbar.

Anyway, nonetheless, a bunch of stuff for animal catching (I'm going to say 5 slots) a sniper rifle, some useless blocks (3) and some small melee weapon of sorts.

My left mouse bouton gonna be a machine gun of some sort, and the right one gonna be a melle weapon, it will be my setup for general exploration.

If ammo is rare, i will use a high power pistol(or something that feel like a pistol) istend of a machine gun to save up ammo and the ability to use it with a shield/sword depending on the enemies.

Lastly, id aslo put my green hat on wen exploring dungeons and use a sword/shield combo and explore *legend of zelda 2* style.

Of course, i will keep a sniper and explosive weapons at the ready to deal with potential enemy snipers and hard hiting tanks.

A ton of blocks, a fancy, fancy revolver. (Don't care about stats, which ever revolver looks and sounds the best), and a sword and shield equip in Right and Left. (Probably shield in right click).
Animal stuff for catching/healng/whatever you can get.(Wonder if I can get a pet bird... Have we seen random flying mobs? I can call him Apostle, and he will bring much ownage)
    And again, blocks.

  6. Probably the same as my setup in Terraria -- weapons, blocks, and a random piece of furniture.

yes, and the furniture needs to be in the slot that your finger easily bumps on accident all the time, because nothing strikes fear into the hearts of your enemy than swinging a chair at them.

I'm gonna switch between 2 shields and a flamethrower, either one consuming the whole left and right button, and stimpacks in slots.

I'd probably end up using the same config as Terraria since that's what works best for me. Digging tool, melee weapon, ranged weapon, light source, couple blocks, potions. May change depending on what items are available and useful in Starbound.

It's quite a bit different to the endless mining the only way to do anything that Terraria had. This is more exploring, you're going to want flashlights or weapons.
Am I the only one completely pumped for your character actually holding what you have in your hands, not just appearing for attacks?

Arm cannons of various types on the left with weapon modules that consist of rockets, plasma, flamethrower, wave, freeze. On the right, first and foremost, an energy fist weapon, an assortment of bombs of various sizes and explosive radius's/damage types, and a grappling hook.
On another loadout. Various research and mining tools, Non-lethal weapons, a stealth devices, a device for hacking (fingers crossed!), and a examining and recording device.

First is a bad ass bounty hunter second is more of a curious robot adventuring into the wild not looking to harm or be harmed just to observe and gather information.

    Edit: Truth of the matter.
1st is a fanboy wanting to recreate Samus.
2nd is what I will actually be playing.

You're right about that. All of my slots should be applicable though except for the magic mirror which I left out, obviously. What I meant was I'll probably start off with a bar like I had in Terraria which should work well enough to start, then adjust it as I go to work best with the different game systems Starbound has to offer.
