Hey i'm all for it. If it serves you to focus more on starbound and not to take second jobs then i'm all for it. It's a win win situation. I'd even pay the full price. Don't need to be cheaper because it isn't fully released. You deserve full support on this because your doing a fantastic job.

I hate large timeframes but i'll go with whatever you decide.

I don't think I have ever posted on this forum, even tho I find myself reading it most of the time, this thread REQUIRES a post. I totally support ANYTHING that helps this game going live in any form (beta or otherwise). I speak for 3 other people who probably haven't seen this thread yet but who would preorder it threw any system.

On steam i use directbank transfer bekos i dont own visa or any credit cards like that.
I realy want to preorder starboud so hope this will be avaible.

i'd order.

as for payment methods i honestly prefer plain old paypal. is easy, quick, already set-up and secure, etc etc. it'd be nice to be able to do a basic order through that.

that said, as long as it is a recognized, mainstream payment method, i'm pretty much down with whatever.

I would love a preorder. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes for you guys to make the game it's best before you release the beta, and since the preorder would allow a quicker game and more time working on it (plus you guys won't go hungry given that people really want this game). I fully support this idea.

P.S. Glad you guys aren't doing an in-game bonus thing. It's nice to pay one fee and get everything instead of some things based on how much money you payed. Too many games nowadays are all about the DLC. Keep up the good works.

Payment service wouldn't matter to me but if I had to pick one I'd say Humble Store.
I think the soundtrack should come with the game for everyone, not just for the people who pay above a certain amount. I'd like a mug with some Starbound art on it though. Maybe a poster? For things that don't need to be posted, maybe naming things in the game.
2013 sounds a bit vague. Say mid December and no one will complain if it comes out earlier

From the sounds of it a Pre-order would help you guys out a lot. Plus if you use it as a door way to the beta you get two benefits for the price of one.

A big enough Pre-order gives you guys additional funding which is always a boon to small team like yours. The success of the model is borne out in other indie games and helps the small guys along. Once beta itself hits this allows the players on various machines with various configurations etc to run the game and find the quirks and problems.

My thoughts.

Get that Road Map up ASAP. This will help assuage some of the excited anxiety of waiting. Having some sort of defined progress to track can help quite a few folks find that extra shred of patience.

Set up bug tracking and trouble shooting for the public early. This should include things like finding system specs, what OS the machine is running, etc. and the details about the bug.

Ask people to test features from the PUG group and post their thoughts and opinions. Also set up an area for that to occur.

Don't shoulder the loads of bug and feature stuff alone. Find volunteers from inside the community to help out.

Don't try to please everyone it only leads to frustration and madness.

I'd like to pre-order, too - Steam key + direct downloads with soundtrack would be great. I had no issues with Humble Store so far, so I vote for them.

The tier system sounds good. I would like to see something like items. Exclusive races seems like too much, but exclusive gun skins or armors would be really nice to see. Everything else sounds awesome, and I too would be willing to pay the full price if it meant that you would be able to devote more time to the game... plus to be honest I want to pay you for your fine work.
