If you have a pre-order with a four-pack, that'd be even more exciting (though single pre-order keys are fine). Hell, if it were only available in a 50-pack, I'd still get it -- I would just MAKE FRIENDS to accommodate the extra keys.

Though 2013 is a pretty vague indicator -- I'm sure everyone would love a tentative release window for the beta at the very least. However, it's still better than people using financial quarter release windows like FY Q4 2013 or something.

I'm unsure whether releasing a beta would be a good idea. People seem to translate "bug tracking and testing" as "demo and recommendation box"

dunno if suggested but paysafe would be really convenient(I know steam got it but I thought you can't pre-order on steam),usefull since you don't need a credit card or bank account it doesn.t matter it's how i got all my games on steam

You just gained a ton of rep with me.
And yes I would definitely pre order.

Yes. YES. YES! I love it! This will definitely hold me over, though I'm sure I'm not the only one. I've just wanted some way to say "I own this game." even if it won't release for quite a bit longer. This will definitely subside the peoples hunger. Looking forward to helping move the train along! :]

As far as extra merch I'd love to get some printed issues of The Chronicle if you don't have them already. :D

I definitely approve of a pre-order option, and I promise you I will pre-order as soon as it is made available. Also, I doubt any of your employees will need second jobs once you make the pre-order available, I'd guess that you'll be shocked at the support the game receives as soon as you allow pre-orders.

I've been following Starbound for a long time now, and I can't express enough how excited my friends and I are for your game, we all bought Wanderlust and will gladly preorder Starbound if it will get the final product out to us sooner and provide u guys with the resources you need to ensure the release of a high-quality product.

EDIT: over 500 responses on your forum in not even half-a-day, and from what I've read most people have said they would pre-order. I'd estimate even more people would pre-order once beta is made available, especially once word gets out on big name video-game-news websites.

Pre-Order would be fantastic, and is a must imo. The beta, for when it is ready, should be exactly that; Don't feel rushed in anyway to push it out sooner than you feel, you've done great work on the game and it is best that you release it with a bang. As for tiered rewards, I would say keep it minor, what you suggested was perferct: soundtrack, art, etc. The pre-order is also just much more convenient to us, so we don't have to buy it on release day. :)

Yah i think you should it be pretty cool, it would give a good amount of time for it too be worked on but it should give you more time to take your time and relax as well.
thanks for listening have fun making it too.

I know that myself and 8 of my friends would love to be able to give our support to the team even before the game is released. The option of having multi-packs is a rather neat idea which would be even nicer for our group.

As far as the period of time for release goes, we are very much in it for the long haul. After previous games letting us down with buggy gameplay or just dropped support, we look forward to being in a community that is listened to by the devs as they are truly the ones who should care if the game is good or not.

It just so happens that I've also been a game dev for the past couple years on my own project. Being the only programmer/designer is extremely hard on one's life when the art cannot pay for the necessities. Keep going you guys and gals, we'll all love it when it finally gets to where you want it.

I like preorders cause it means I can pay for a game(effectively) at release without resisting the urge to spend the money Dr. Pepper.

I'd love to be able to get multiples in a set. I am planning on getting two pre-orders right away. The game is going to be twice as fun with a friend, so it'd be handy to get both copies at once. In fact, I set aside a little money months ago to throw it at you guys as soon as you'll let me. =3

  16. Would absolutely pre-order. I honestly surprised that there hasn't been an option for it already.

Why aren't you taking my money already?! I literally want to preorder right now.

I'd be more than happy to do a preorder. I actually preorder a lot of games that I'm very excited about in order to support the developers with a little cash flow. I'd also be willing to pay a little extra for some perks (like having my name in a star, specifically :DD. Artbooks are cool. Soundtracks are least of all incentives to me, buuuut considering I've really been lusiting after this game, I'd still pitch in a bit more even if that were the case.)

As far as payment options go, I'd think the Humble Store would be the way to go. It's easy, most people who like indie games already have an account on the Humble Store, and I'd think that they would promote you a bit as well.

Thanks so much for considering this!

Tiers-wise, the developers should not add things like "free endgame weapon, item, etc." or pre-order only content. What the developers should do, however, is give you... basic tools? Blueprints? I'm not totally sure...

    I just pwned myself, didn't I?
