I would prefer that the payment services to pre-order the game would be Steam, PayPal or Humble Shop
Anyways, can't wait to pre-order this game

 

The best business decision would probably be putting something regarding the pre-order beta on Steam, since that would expose the game to thousands of people who otherwise haven't heard about it (being on the steam top sellers list is almost like an ad). Anything beyond simple beta access, like paying more for tier rewards, could be handled on this site.

 

Honestly, the "pre-order and get access to beta" thing is a really good idea. Giving the option to give more money for extra stuff in a Kickstarter fashion also sounds great and is something I hadn't considered.
I say go for it. o: I know I for one will be pre-ordering as soon as it becomes possible if you do indeed go through with it.

 

It should be $5 more than the full game, to get you guys a Subway Sandwich!

I would pre order in a heart beat, the developer roadmap would just be whipped cream.

As for tiers, I'm not big into artwork or soundtrack. I really wanna see in game costumes. Nothing that effects balance, just something to show that you helped out. Maybe a vanity pet? Or even just a cool hat.

I'm pre ordering two if that helps sweeten the deal, your move Starbound team.

Put this game up on Steam and I'll pre-order it instantly. After SimCity I'm done preordering games generally, tired of being &$@#ed over by big publishers. But you guys are awesome. I loved your art work on Terraria, and Starbound is my #1 most anticipated game right now, period. I want this more than any upcoming AAA title. I miss the golden age of gaming (SNES era), and have a love for 2d games. Please let me give you money to help this project, I'll do anything to help it come out! Every single one of my friends wants this game just as badly, and I've been telling others about it. I'm like, hey, you know Terraria? Yeah, great game. Now imagine that with space travel and tons of random planets to explore, with random biomes and creatures. This is when people usually say, "....wow."

Take as long as you need to make the game how you want it, just don't become vaporware (I would cry). To all of you at Chucklefish, keep up the fantastic work!

Pre-orders sounds fine to me. I'd be willing to throw AAA-title price moneys your way for just the game alone! I know I've made worse purchases on Steam for fewer hours of gameplay.

Have you heard how the Dwarf Fortress guys reward their supporters? They draw pictures.

The 2013 timeframe sounds fine, and opening pre-orders is good if it keeps your programmers happy and well-fed.

I think that you should get a really cool and interesting digital manual of the game, with like cool facts about the devs and games. Basically like a cool little digital book all about the dev team and starbound.

 

If it helps with development and treats customers fairly, then by all means, go for it. I know I'll buy it.

As for which service to use -- I personally cannot use Paypal. Instead I use Amazon Payments. Optimally you'd have a service able to sell to both.

 

Definitely yes, but make sure to have an easy to use bug tracker. And I think in game tributes are a great idea, and a soundtrack. And if you have shirts, I like wearing shirts. Or pants, whichever you prefer to supply me with when I preorder your awesome game.

 

I would pre-order without a doubt! Happy to hear that progress I'd going well also!

 

How about just giving us one of those "what made it into the game and what didn't, how it could've been and why it wasn't" kind of books, as a preorder bonus. I always enjoyed looking at concept arts and the sort as well.

 

It would be a huge convenience to buy from the humble store!
