I was having this thought earlier: I've never used any EPP augment other than Light. I'm wondering how the rest of you feel about them.

For me, being able to actually see is very important to me. I have no love for blind combat whatsoever. I don't mind the flashlight specifically, but one-handed guns make combat take too long, and one-handed melee weapons without a shield are too risky.

It also doesn't help that you are functionally married to your choice of augment. Changing augments destroys the initial augment. You could theoretically craft multiple EPPs to get around this, but I don't even bother.

(Swimming's omitted from the poll just because I ran out of space for it. That, and... DO any of you actually use it regularly?)

Yeah, I stick to the light augment as well. If there were two slots, I'd take healing as well, but light is more important.

Gravity one. I wonder why it gets so little love. Gravity Augment + Air dash + Multi Jump is my way to go for insane air time. I can jump over literally everything I want. Air Dash resets falling speed, Multi Jump resets falling speed, augment lowers falling speed and increases jump heigh. Also, Gravity Augment makes Multi Jump straight upgrade over Double Jump because jump height with Multi Jump becomes noticeable higher than with Double Jump. With both jump boosts jump height is basically insane.

About light, well, I'm Assault Rifle guy and Assault Rifles can light up areas pretty well, especially with explosive burst ability. That's also why I'm using mobility combo described above because I can laugh at melee mobs when jumping midair around them all the time and using AR.

I also have EPP with Poison Augment for trips on Toxic Planets but I'm not using it anywhere else.

I always use the healing auguments. Actually, when Healing III augument shown up at Lana Blake's shop in my OutPost I bought as much as possible with all of my characters :). The other thing is when playing survival mode it's not that helpful, as you need to eat all the time, so your life regenerates anyway. In this case, light augument may prove to be more practical (except boss fights, of course). However in easy mode healing augument might be better, as it makes you not to worry about food, and in hardcore safety is much more important than comfort, so light augument is quite useless compared to healing one.

Well, after writing this, I start to wonder - I personally have a good farm and a lot of food anyway while playing casual... Maby I'll switch to light. Right now I'm just not sure. And I still have about 10 Healing III auguments bought before...

I prefer gravity mostly. Mobility would be nice but the added speed messes with the spike ball's sticking to walls.

I use poison resistance. The light augments are nice and all, but they also remove the mood of a dimly lit build. I've never had a need for more health or energy. Ice and electric are hardly ever environmental hazards, and lava is too dangerous even with the augment. That left me with poison resistance, because it completely immunizes you from poison liquid and acid rain.

Without the combinable EPP Augments mod? Light or Health. I really don't like how the Breathing EPP replaces the small-glow of the explorer/lantern back item, but then every EPP after gets to retain the previous iteration's perks. So you've got a light to follow you around... But ONLY on easy planets. So, it's usually Light for me unless I'm running around with a Staff or Wand. Still wish I could have a light though without using a mod heh. Would be nice if the higher EPP backs let you have a small glow at the very least, or if we were allowed to combine a max of two augments, so we can have the Light augment with a pack, but not be overpowered in being able to combine four or five of them.

I generally use a healing 3 aug cause I'm accident prone and my low framerate causes me to take a lot of damage in fights. I usually use my scanner as a light source if I need it.

I always use the light augment. I feel its really the only augment worth using. A portable always on light-source is always an amazing thing to have, especially when it doesn't need to be held in one of your hands.

I actually prefer to use the damage augment, it is nice to be able to kill most monsters in one combo. But I do have to be carefull about falling and the like but healing was never really a problem since most healing items work really fast.

Poison augment is nice for eating raw food, lol
For max mobility, gravity augment + wall jump + air dash is my favourite.
