Your best Derps and Fails

So, I just managed to kill myself with Black Current Crumble. I was trying to clear a Floran dungeon, and I had respawned after dying with a guard at the same time he dropped an assault rifle... that I want.

Run over to the dungeon, manage to take a lot of falling damage in my haste. No bars left, but didn't die, phew that was lucky. Which is my best healing food? Black Current Crumble.
You know that zappy sound it makes when you eat it? Glitch love that shiz... a practically dead adventurer? Not so much.

Any spectacular tales of failure you'd like to share?

 

Loved exploring a moon as a new player, only to suddenly realize that I was freezing to death because it was night (seriously, these alerts need more umph to em.) I dash into a hole thinking to hide from the freezing weather out of the wind, only to be munched by some beasties. (before I discovered the vast usefulness of the flashlight)

Or accidentally hitting an Avian aboard the air-ship, and leaping to my splattered death after the ENTIRE SHIP started screaming for my blood. (before I had Beam Up as a reflex key)

 

For me, it would be stepping into lava that is one tile wide and deep. Although you can’t actually fit in them, you move into just enough to get burnt. To think I would have been more careful about this due to how many times this happened, but nope, still keep doing it.

I also had some deaths from digging down while in complete darkness and suddenly falling down a massive opening and landing on solid ground.

 

at medium to long ranges, even time I try to dodge an attack I normally end up running into one I dodged earlier

 

Jumping puzzles in Apex facilities are fun. I jump over first obstacle: *ZAP* "AARGH!" second: *ZAP* "AGH! third: *ZAP* "AUURGHH!".

 

Every time I've spawned an NPC on my ship, only to accidentally swing my weapon and gib it moments later.

 

I created the entrance to my town in the courtyard of a human prison (they dug an escape tunnel all the way to the planet's core...that took a lot of spoons). So, it wasn't very near the beam-down point. What's a guy to do? Skyrails.

So, I set out creating a lot of skyrails, going from the beam-down point to the entrance. This sounds great, right? Except that the beam-down point has much higher elevation than the prison entrance, so you zoom off the skyrails and fall to your death at the doorstep of the prison. Oops.

This isn't even counting the 10 deaths I had while sliding along the rail and placing new sections as I go (without a safety net, of course, because this character hasn't found a Boost tech).

 

I always try and take on the Mounted Knights guarding Glitch castles, and by take them on I mean stand there stupidly, let them charge me and try to kill them in one swing.

 

I'm in middle of Terraforming an Asteroid Field as of the time of this Post, & i've found out the hard way that i'm too retarded to Grapple my way up without eventually getting myself fall damage murdered. I'm definitely no Acrobat.

I've resorted to building a Stairway up-right of my Spawn Point to get to the High Areas...

 

Was exploring on a cold planet, had a campfire in my inventory... got way too cold, grabbed the campfire and accidentally threw it in the trash... died before I could grab the 2nd one or even teleport out...

Another time I failed to equip one of the "flight" or jump techs and proceeded to take a long walk off a short cliff... splat...

 

My first attempt on the Bone Dragon boss was an epic fail, but not due to my actions.. To start things off, I made an arena with some turrets to help DPS the boss.. The arena was purely dirt, turrets, and an idiot adventurer.. I summon the boss and a few seconds into the fight, 5 mega meteors come down and annihilate me, the arena, and half the mountain I built it on.. It took some time for it to sink in what just happened.. I was just amazed how badly the game wanted to screw me over.. A few times the phrase "WTF GAME?!" was used.. Also laughter because of how hilariously overkill the game went to murder me..

I would like to add that I have NEVER played Starbound in a multiplayer server.. Always solo.. Like Han..

 

My absolute biggest "You are an absolute moron" moment, I have no excuse...
I was underground, surrounded by torches, digging diamond ore out of obsidian using a copper pickaxe, so I had lots of time to see that there was no floor underneath the last line of diamond. So did I put down dirt or something? Nope. My brain simply said "F*** you, I'm on break" and I proceeded to dig straight down, landing me in a massive river of lava...

 

I was playing Starbound for the first time last year, and when I first chopped down a tree, I ran away from it so I wouldn't be smashed beneath it.

In my haste I fell into a shallow cave and got molested by a fire-breathing bird.

 

Had a haul of well over 400 diamond ores sent to the trash.

As far as death related. I was in a rank 10 snow planet, making a screenshot to edit with. Naturally said shot required I take my head armor and hat off. I managed to get it, but then got one shotted by a random mob's twisting pulse.

I have to date lost 5 pets on planets.

 

Decorate my first home with the Penguin ufo boss spammer in the top of it.

 

And now I've topped my previous derps yesterday by having 850 Titanium metal tiles grace the trash bin. I was saving that. ;;

I'd kill for a more forgiving trash bin, seriously.

 

I wore double armor cause I didn't understood vanity items

 

I've always liked the way gravel falls from the ceiling. One day, in a cave, I saw an absolutely massive deposit of gravel on the roof of the cave. So I mined some. And right after the gravel came down, the massive pool of poison that was sitting above it followed...
I barely got out of the way in time.
