    So I'm at work, and playing Starbound. I'm completely engrossed in my underground journey on this acidic, volatile planet. Mouse clicking hard as my mouse pad is slipping off my desk. All of a sudden my phone rings (it's 5:25am) and I panic because my volume is up loud, so I just close my laptop shut.

    I answer the phone in a serious professional voice - "IT services, this is Clisen :lod:". Then I hear the softest, most attractive foreign accent and realized that it's my coworker on our India team. I'm looking at her picture via Microsoft Lync as I drifted off into a day dream of spending my entire life with her. After fixing the issue, we hesitated with our good byes as there was a curious tone in our voices that wanted to peer into closer relationship.

    I opened my laptop up to see my character Han Yolo, hatching from a new tadpole clone sack. My character trusted me in guiding him through this treacherous planet, and I failed him.

    What have I done? :wut:

    I have a large data center to maintain and requires that everything is up and running 24/7. If a server fails someone has to respond and fix it, ASAP.

    About volume, use headpnones. Good for work and home if you don't want to annoy or startle anyone.

    Headphones are dangerous, if I don't hear server alarms going off and our clients go into a critical state - I'll be looking for a new job.

    I probably shouldn't be playing Starbound at work.

    I'm keeping one phone in the ear, and use other ear to detect anyone sneakng into cabinet.

    This is also what I did when I had a job wherein I just couldn't slack off indiscriminately.

    All Hylotl know the value of sacrifice, and understand that to achieve one's goals, sacrifices must be made. In sacrifice, there is suffering, but it is temporary. While yes, you have failed your Hylotl charge, his suffering is but a moment's agony before being well once more, safe and sound upon his vessel.

    Should he realize that his sacrifice set into the ground the seed of burgeoning love, I believe he would regard the sacrifice as a life well-spent.

    As the ancient Hylotl proverb goes, "Worth it."

    Discovered that thankfully, your character's surname doesn't apply to him.

    I am envious of how your workplace Starbound adventures are more interesting than mine. An example;

    A few days ago, a co-worker wanted to bounce a few ideas off of me and instead of walking across the office she elected to phone me to do so instead. During the conversation, I hear the familiar sound of several Starbounders playing instruments in the background; instead of saying anything, I carried on like I didn't hear, whilst firing up my own copy of Starbound. I plug her workstation's IP address into multiplayer and connect. "You shouldn't be playing this at work, Sam. Naughty, naughty." A flurry of chat messages are offered up in response, trying to work out who this mystery character is, whilst the phone call is terminated with a "I'll call you back."

    I reveal myself as the tormentor, and we then proceed to spend the rest of the work day Starbounding. Largely uneventful. Except for grenades I lobbed at them at one point.. :viking:

  20. Getting paid to play and not the other way around must be nice.
