You guys are awesome.

I've noticed our community is full of amazing people. Everyone is always so positive and kind, and contributory to all discussions. I've also never seen a bunch quite so enthusiastic about something. It restores faith in humanity.

It will be sad when this game is released that this forum will most likely flood with more than double of the population of people we have currently, and unfortunately the negatives of trolling and disrespectful posters will come with it.

 

Yeah, this is the best forum I've ever been on, and it saddens me to think of it's almost-sure demise, like, think of minecraft's forums. I use to be very active there, until I just couldn't stand the trolls. That kinda thing gives you a nasty temper after awhile

 

I know, we've got to enjoy the harmony while it lasts.
But also learn to accept that this change is going to happen, regardless of what anyone tries to do.

 

Once the game launches and the trolls flood I think we'll all mostly be too busy with the game to even afford any attention to them. At least I will be

 

Yah this is one of the few forums I can handle.

 

all forums are great when they first start. but once something gives the forums more publicity the trolls are inevitable.

 

It's like knowing when the world is going to end before it happens.

 

I find forums sometimes a little strange that way. Forums that start are sometimes nice and pleasant, then they grow large and trolls start seeping in.
Once a forum loses followers I think it actually reverts to when it first began because the trolls likely left to play other games leaving the big fans and hard core forum members
to talk about the "good ol days" and maybe help the occasional new guy who wanders into an old game.

I'm a little curious to see what personality this forum grows into when the game ships. I wonder if we would get some interesting stories about adventures and space battles.

Unlike Terraria this game probably won't decide to stop production when it's in it's peak.

 

I'm glad I've been here since the relative start of this game, its something of a honor when a game takes off, and you can say you were there since before it happened. This is the second forum I'm actually active on. I really like it here. I hope to be one of those guys 5-6 years from now talking about the good ol days.

It's sad that you think this will happen.
Just because the population doubles doesn't mean that the forums will be infested with ignorant idiots and trolls, along with the bad comes with
a ton of other bright and friendly people. Even if there are lots of trolls that decide to come onto this forum, our mods will raise their hammer of judgment
and cleanse the lands for us.

 

I appreciate your optimism, but I've seen it happen. Thing is, once the forums, double, even possibly triple, the standards have to go down. Blatant trolls, or idiots aren't really the issue then. Its the general feeling and quality of the forum, many people just aren't nice. Although I don't like that, there's nothing we can really do when it happens.

 

I'm not really a forum kind of person, but I have to say this is indeed the best one I've encountered.
Meaning, I've read plenty of forums before but this is the first one I've felt like posting in myself. Without many trolls and other sorts of unsavory characters it invites a more comfortable feeling, more like a lounge than a bar if you follow my drift.
And, oh, have I seen some of the worst forums for mmorpgs who have kicked the bucket. Truly a sad sight.

The biggest thing, I think, is that most of the people here are non-judgmental, your opinion is yours. As long as you aren't insulting, it will be ignored if not agreed with, but you won't be harangued because of it.

It's a strange feeling sometimes, to want a forum/game to stay small because you know the community will stay awesome and to also want the game to become renowned since it will help those who developed it.

 

I can see where you're your coming from. Let's just see how this turns out, shall we?

 

Well, there are several things we could do to try to preserve it, setup a teamspeak server, get a private forum... But I think we kinda know it wont last. I guess we shall just have to see each other ingame or some such.

EDIT: I suppose we shall, and I appreciate your optimism. I really hope it does stay as awesome as it is now.

I can see where everyone is coming from. Right now these forums are great; one of the best I've ever been on. The community is lovely and everyone is receptive to new ideas. I'd like to think it would stay that way, though as history shows that's a bit optimistic .

 

In all honesty, I like these forums as well. I tend to be very reclusive in social situations, preferring to observe than to participate, but these forums seem to help me out with that. I guess it's because I tried to get involved so early on.
