seriously it dosent prevent people to play the game in thier own style , it preven people to be that 16 years old overfed angry kid that move thier head left and right when they talk to people and will scream like a bitch when something dont go thier way.

you want to explore , sure , dig coal and travel my friend
you want to establish yourself near a npc village , sure , nothing prevent you to
you want to visit every planet in the galaxy in 5 minutes and get every good ressource from them right now , wol calm your burning horse with uranium in thier ass

TL : DR
if you played any rpg , youll know that even if your play style is pvp and not killing bosses , you still have to kill monster to reach higer level and get items

yes , it get i the way of your own play style and its a nessesary step to do before you can do your own buisness and IT WILL TAKE TIME

 

I personally just re-added fuel amount to the wood due to not honestly having enough time to play between work and what not with digging up coal. Many people mention caves and biomes but I think I spent a few hours digging and found....a tiny sewer? My home planet had almost no ore at all on it including coal, and the planets nearby were to cold to live on for my starting character so I had little choice. But really it comes down to what your willing to do to make the game fun for your self before giving up on the game entirely just based on balance changes.

I'm sure I will spend allot of time modding the game my self to make it fun for my self as many others will as well. Heck I think I ran over 100 mods (not exaggerating) on Skyrim to get it exactly what I wished it to be.

Wow. Instead of insulting the op we should actually commend him for bringing up an important issue. The game is a bit ruined at the moment. Refueling has become a ridiculous grind. The game is no longer about exploration and freedom. It is now about obtaining enough coal to be able to even play the game to begin with. Torches run out far too quickly considering how scarce the coal is in the first place not to mention having to use so much of it to refuel the ship.

The developers want to know what is wrong with their game and how they can improve it. We are doing a disservice by ignoring the issues and pretending everything is sunshine and roses. The devs will not give you bonus points or autographs for simply praising every aspect of the game and pretending it is flawless.

Fanboys will be fanboys. For some reason so many people on this forum feel they need to defend this game. I dont quite understand it.

 

Gotta say I agree with OP in some regards ( of course I'm not going to quit the game entirely because of it). On my character I'm leveling now I have reached the beta sector relying entirely on scrounging for very little coal when possible, unable to make torches in fear of trapping myself on a planet. I've spent hours mining and returned with up to 100 iron and copper, but only 20+ coal at the most. Coal needs to become more plentiful, or there needs to be a better source of fuel because it's starting to get ridiculous.

Another thing I forgot: It also makes having a home planet pretty much useless. Its not worth mining 100 coal from a different star system to return to my already sufficiently mined home-world so I can drop a bunch of crap off in a box.

 

Oh man that's a relief! 10:1 is not that bad do be honest, I can get 1000 wood in 5 minutes, or even less depending on luck.

this game have to mutch to handle yet run smoother than terraria and minecraft for me .. the only bug i get its when i start the game

I really do enjoy the patch, just not as much as Irritated Koala. The lack of coal is a bit annoying since you have to go underground and fend off overpowered monsters with no torches due to the scarcity of aforementioned fuel source. And you know, freezing to death trying to find the means to not freeze to death is frustrating too. But I'm sure they'll fix it so that I can actually do what the developers marketed the game would do: Explore new worlds. Plural. There's only one planet in the solar system I started in, and it's a small poison one with no trees, just the plant-fiber-rose-things. So... Yeah. Using the matter manipulator. Freezing/starving to death. No coal. Yep.

 

It's not about being a fan boy.

Its about the game being in its beta phase.

People seem to be confused about this, which confuses me. The whole point of the Beta is to balance the game and try new things.

It really has nothing to do with defending this game, its about making ignorant and impatient players more aware of what playing a game that is still in it's developmental phase of play.

Your toons will be wiped, it's the nature of the beast.

You may have to actually try and do something like, I don't know look for fuel for your spacecraft.

Everything you do in this game will most likely be a bit painful while balancing measures are put into place. So you can either accept the game in it's current state and do what players are supposed to do in beta, such as explore the game in it's current state, find bugs and exploits and offer advice and suggestions to help the game progress forward.

If you feel like consistently making pointless complaints are going to help this game move forward or any game in Beta phase, especially early on.

You are mistaken and should not play these games during early stages.

 

Not sure if it's the same on all those type of planets, but I started on one and thought I had no wood after chopping a few of those trees and only getting plant fiber, but it turned out some of the rose things did drop wood. They looked similar to the plant fiber ones, but the color was different.
