Perhaps you could ask that guy who made these little scoutships, that are used in Mad Tulips Shipconstruction Mod. Or the people who made the Drilling Mechs? I mean,.. how to make this mod work in Multiplayer. Because I guess we can be agreeing that the most fun this mod does would be in PVP battles.
Does anyone think that mechs should add defense and protection from the elements? After using this mod I feel like all covered mechs should be like an extra suit of armor that adds more defense because It just doesn't seem right to be in an awesome mech but still get hit as if you have no armor. Also, since your hit box is larger you get hit more easily. The higher tiered mechs should also provide lights, let you survive in space, under water, and in poison. lastly, when your hp reaches zero you could have the option to eject and the mech explodes while you glide to safety at 1hp. I don't know how to mod but does anyone think at least one of these ideas could work?
The ability to code that is not available right now for modders, the next update was rumored to have some tweaks that will allow armor stats to be changed, thus making mechs more viable to be items instead of techs, or maybe it was that techs can change armor values, either way the next few updates of vanilla Starbound will benefit this mod greatly.
yes There is a link on the overview page that doesnt go through nexus, which does NOT require you to pay for it like some people think.
possibly add. 1- four legged mech 2 - Flying based mech?. 3- sniper mech?. 4- Artilery mech?. 5- Tank mech?.
I wonder, for new mechs, have you tried using buttons on the keyboard for functions, like W and S? I got that idea from another mod that I fear has been abandoned.
Would it first not be more important to find a way to make this thing server useable, before adding new stuff?
I would like to, but right now the problem (as far as my and another modder's investigations went anyway) has to do with Starbound's netcode. It's something I'm continuing to investigate as sometimes I hear reports of the mod working fine in multiplayer but so far I have not been able to do this. The problem has to do with how the netcode transfers animation data between server and client; for some reason, techs that have a large number of animation states cause a problem with this communication. Most vehicle mods out there are not nearly as heavily animated as the mechs in this one are, so they are not affected by this problem probably for that reason. We have reported the problem with Chucklefish and are continuing to seek a fix to the problem. Hopefully an engine update will fix it soon! That's a good idea! We'll see if using them fits into anything new (which I suspect it will soon). This is a good point, but as SubliminalKitteh mentioned, none of those suggestions are possible with the current engine/lua limitations. I suppose I could make a custom armor piece that represents each mech type, and you equip that armor slot to use the mech? But that's an awkward mechanic; for now we wait until the devs over at Chucklefish expand the lua API / vehicle functionality. As far as all the suggestions, here's what I've got planned for the next (or next couple) update(s): 1. One more Rho variant; this is what I'm working on right now (and it may end up not being a Rho at all the way things are going, since it does not use the Rho script, but it is approximately Rho-sized) 2. Sigma mech variant with mining capability 3. Tier 6-10 dedicated exploration/flying (but not super fast) vehicle/mech. Weapon systems/abilities undecided; one possibility is a freeze ray. I'm liking the theme of non-lethal or low-lethality
I wonder would it be possible to make the mechs come with their own energy boost? Just like armors I mean.
Tons of people (including me) have requested for this in the base game, hopefully it does get added give me my uscm mech
I did mention before that I hate how your own energy gets depleted by using mecha, but perhaps adding an actual energy regeneration rate to them would balance it somehow out, to at least have the depletion slow down.
Oh god, the graphics of this. Which demon should I sell my soul to to be able to pixel like that? Dling it right now and preparing for some major carnage c:<

Why do you have to put it on Nexus Mods? Whenever I try to download I have to pay money just to download a freaking mod.
