Outdated Xan Union Corvette v2.1 - Unstable Winter

    That's odd, did you by any chance try adding the floran equipment by modifying the dropshipblocks.png file?
    In that case, you also need to add the items into the dropship.structure , as I'm pretty sure Starbound just instacrashes if you try to load a ship with colours that aren't listed in the dropship.structure file. ( Not sure, though )

    If it's just crashing because you only edited the dropshipblocks.png , with colours already present, then there's really no logical reason as to why it would crash, though.

    Also, any modifications done to dropship.structure or dropshipblocks.png needs to be generated in a new ship to actually work / be present.
    That's because both of them get baked into the character's savefile ( specifically, the .shipworld file )
    You can find guides in the mod description on how to transfer them, once you have one you like.

    If you don't figure it out, could you list the things you've changed / edited, or upload the files? I could just take a look at it if you can't get it to work.

    I'm starting to think my image editor just can't sample the colors correctly with it's eyedropper tool. (using paintbrush on a mac... mock me if you will)

    I was in the middle of making myself a ledgend I can sample from: putting the rgb's in directly works better and somehow makes the eyedropper work right.

    the ships overview page needs to be edited now that the install method has changed for both new and already made characters, cuz im still having trouble using the ship mod... im sorry if i come across as dense with this, i just think a detailed instruction seems in order. as always your mod looks good and keep up the good work :)

    Yeah, I need to go over and clean it up.

    I'm honestly not sure why you have such problems, though.
    The absolutely easiest way for it to work for you is just to make a new character, that way you won't need to mess with moving over shipsworlds.
    There might also be a bit more of an issue that you were using a custom race last time, but I'm not sure if that was the reason stuff was messed up.

    very nice work on that ship, she sure is a beauty^^
    i always thought the vanilla ship was too small, then i used another ship mod but that one was TOO big, my PC didnt like it <.< now this one has a great size and looks amazing :)
    there's only one thing i dont like, those two steps on the bottom left of the cargo room in the front of the ship *thick german accent*: zere hav to be proper angles!
    but since i'm a crafty one, i'll figure something out ;)
    EDIT: just found out why those steps are there, you can't jump high enough to get out of there xD
    but since i'm gonna put stuff there and already have double-jump, no problem^^

    The design and variants of the mod are extraordinary, it's just unfortunate that I am unable to try them. I already have a Glitch character, but I cannot find the \ships\human folder to rename it, and even after deleting the character's SHIPWORLD file to see if that works it simply crashes the game and gives me long lines of errors. Your description states that the default race that can use the ship with just placing the mod inside the \mods folder is the Human race. I have tried creating a new human character but it only gives me the normal human ship. Have you made an update to the mod that you haven't written about on the Mod Description section, or am I doing something unsurprisingly wrong?

    Yeah kaetzer, I think I originally put them there so people wouldn't have to reload the game to get back out, nice to hear that you like it, though. :)

    Also DaedricShadow, first up, I looked through the ship's file again, and the most recent one actually default to glitch, which is an error on my part.
    But, first up, never simply delete a .SHIPWORLD file, if the game tries to load a character without a shipworld, it just crashes, unfortunately, you need to transplant it over from a different character,

    So, if you try to make another Glitch, it should spawn with the ship, in that case, you can just move the shipworld file over by renaming it,
    If you have any problems with that, I wrote a step-by-step earlier, which I also think is in the overview.

    ( And yes, I'll go ahead and clean up the mod-download and overview a bit, now. )

    Thanks for clearing it up, I'm really looking forward to trying the mod out! I really appreciate the huge amount of effort that you have put into this and I really hope that it expands and turns even better! Also, I might even use one or two of the sprites from this mod for a presentation I have to make tomorrow in Business Studies and Finance class where we have to make an imaginary business and show how we would run it and plan our progress, if it's alright with you. I chose Starbound! I'll talk a little bit about the wide mod compatibility that Starbound has, although I think the only person who will know what I'm talking about is the teacher.

    Anyway, amazing Spaceship and I can't wait to throw my mobile phone out the window, close Facebook forever and get deeply emotionally attached to this awesome mod. Happy Starbounding!

    Strange. One last thing: I have installed the Baltic Blue\Classic folder into the Starbound\Mods folder and created a new Glitch Character, but instead of crashing the game it now just gives my character the default Glitch spaceship and not the Union Corvette. My Starbound\Mods directory is shown in the attached image, and I have also tried putting the Mod Info file in the folder as well but the same result is given. I can't find any other files in the download .zip that don't overwrite the files that are already in the Classic Baltic Blue folder, so I'm afraid that once again I'm being blind and there's something amiss with me, could you please clarify any further instructions for installing the mod, even with a new character?

    The different colour schemes are supposed to be placed into mods/Xan union cargo corvette/ships/nameofrace/
    Just where the ship originally was installed to.

    That's really all there is to it.
    And the .modinfo file isn't supposed to be there with the ship either, it's supposed to be in the root folder of the mod, which is the Xan Union Cargo etc etc folder, if it's anywhere else, Starbound won't parse it.

    But, all you need to do to make it work is:
    Take the zip file, or redownload it.
    Extract it somewhere on your computer.
    Find the folder with the mod in it, ( aka, the folder that has the ships, shipvariations for install, .modinfo etc.)
    and just put it into starbound/mods

    And for installing a different colour scheme, you don't need new characters for that, Starbound supports switching the colour scheme on characters without issue.
    ( So it works, as long as the colour scheme is of the same layout type.)

    You just navigate to the folder of the colour you want, select the colour, copy the shipship.png, and overwrite the shipship.png in the race's folder.

    Right, that's where I got confused. I didn't see the folder directory shown in the images because they didn't load earlier, but I can see them through my phone (yeah, my internet adapter is really crap on my computer so it restricts itself to 5MB/s for some reason) and now I understand which folder it actually goes into. I've tried it out now and it does work, now to just copy that Shipworld file over to my Human character! Thanks, and be sure to add the instructions you just mentioned above to your mod overview, some people might get confused!

    Hey there! I'd really love to use your mod [it's pretty much the perfect ship for the character I have in mind], but I can't get it to show up! My Apex spawns on the traditional ship, instead of the Corvette. Here's a screenshot of my ship file:

    I've tried it with new characters multiple times, but it seems that no matter what I try, the original Apex ship overrides the Corvette. :( Any help would be much appreciated!

    Oh there's 1 folder too much. You've got / mods / Xan Union Corvette / Xan Union Corvette /
    I thought I fixed that last time I updated the mod.

    Nevertheless, copy the contents of the folder out and paste them into the topmost one, so that it's set up like mod / Xan Union Corvette / ships/

    i tried loading the ship and then this happens

    i have done EXACTLY as you said.. made a new character (it works fine on it)
    but when i change the name of the ship file it looks like this (yes i stole her pic but it looks the same^^) please help :/

    What do you mean changed the name of the ship file?
    The racename folder?

    That image there is what happens if the character already has a .shipworld assigned to it, and it doesn't fit the ship.
    ( Aka, the character was created while the default ship was active. )

    How to move over shipworlds is mentioned on the previous page here, near the top. ( page 3 )

    If you've done the shipworld rename procedure ( if that was what you referred to on the rename thing)
    Then it might be as simple as you renaming the wrong .shipworld file, as that one's obviously one with the default ship.

    Changing the ship's skin and decal is pretty easy though, you just find the ones you want, and copy + paste them into the ships / nameofrace/ folder, and overwrite the images there.
    You don't need to generate a new character or anything to update the images, so you can swap stuff as often as you like.


    Other than that, the first thing I notice in the first image is that there are lights in the air as well.
    Those lights are supposed to be invisible by default.
    So, do you have any other mods running as well?

    Kauske had the same problem earlier in the thread, but I don't think there was mentioned a solution for it.

    Because I'm really not sure what's going on with you.
    I just tried reinstalling my mod by deleting it completely, downloading the same version as you, and dropping it into the mod folder, and I have no problems.

    Try that you too, and say what happens with a clean install.
    ( aka, delete mods / Xan Union Corvette/ then copy the files from the .zip the mod was in and drop it back in, )
