How do you connect to the IRC server?

It's being kickstarted, so a good chunk of money could be made from that, should it go over well.
Subscription-based just means that they have to understand how they're going to monetize. They're going to have to have different mechanics that work well with a subscription, rather than F2P mechanics. They both have their own sets of pitfalls.
If done right, it's going to foster the sense of community inherent in being a small fandom. Close-knit groups is what I like about WoW, not the vastness and simultaneious players. Other MMOs don't revolve around a single fandom, which differentiates this one and makes it interesting.
It's a long road ahead of them, being Kickstarted is just the beginning. Things might change, races could be added, there are any number of traps that they could fall into and kill the project, especially with an MMO. But it's different, fluffy, and looks like something that i'll be keeping my eye on.

What's so bad about subscription games?

    it's on irc.freenode.net, and ##Woof
the process for connecting is different for each IRC client, so get one and use its tutorials. (I use and reccommend IceChat.)

There comes a point where the amount you're paying exceeds the value of the game. With B2P games, you know how much the game is worth, and once you pay you can play it to your heart's content. With P2P games, you end up paying more if you enjoy the game and want to keep playing.

However, many Buy2Play games really don't deserve to be so expensive. There are a few where I really thought "Man, I got ripped off."
It depends on how good the game is. I'm supscribed to 2 subscription games right now. Eve Online and WoW, both of which I am completely content paying $15 and $9 a month for respectively. Seeing as I play both just about daily, without them I know that i'd buy more of other games that simply don't last as long (not because they're bad, but because they don't have new content, awesome guildies/corpmates, a dynamic universe, and reliable patches. Rather than thinking "Oh, this game is worth $60 to me" you have to think "Is it worth $15 a month to be playing this game?" to me, I can answer yes to the latter because i'm invested in it, I have a nice support structure, and I really like the fact that i'm not being paywalled, shafter from Pay2Win or that the developers are realizing that sales aren't high enough to justify keeping the servers up.
Microtransaction games can easily become Pay2Win games if the developers allow bought guns to be a bit more powerful than others. The practice of paywalling content, a la Dungeons and Dragons Online, really turned me off, every time I enter a dungeon, "If you want a not piss-easy dungeon, by my thing!"

They all have their own pitfalls, and each ideally should be designed around the model that they're going to use. Or else the game could feel like a mess.

FUCK SKYPE! Imagine how this will assist the 3D animator amateurs with no funds for a whole freaking studio!

And yes, the racoon is adorable. Mostly due to goggles.

There's 2 pounds for some reason, try that.
Yeah, facerig looks incredibly awesome. It hinges entirely on its usability , if it requires special rigging on the model, then things might end up being a real pain. Rigging is bad enough.
