It's more or less a joke inside the fandom at this point. At least with what I've experienced.

 

Don't forget about the acronym version: "Young Incredibly F*able Foxes" (though the modern variant switches foxes with furries).

Yiff means "yes".

Long ago, some foxish folks in the fandom adopted a bit of animalistic language to replace "yes" and "no", as well as include a few sounds in between to indicate a neutral responds, somewhat positive, and somewhat negative responses. I don't recall them all exactly, but from negative to positive, it was something like Grrrf, nrrf, merf, yerf, and yiff. Growlf, growf, yarf, yaff, yip and yiff (Edit: Thanks wikipedia). It .. sort of caught on for a while.

It got the sexual slant from the somewhat oft overheard "Yiff! Yiff! OH GOD YIFF!" from those that were getting it on in some of the chat rooms, and that sort of play became playfully known as "yiffing."

And now you know.

 

How long should I wait before adding new members interested in playing on the server into the convo? Just add them as soon as they ask or wait a bit?

Also who all still needs added to the server IP group? just quote this or @menation me.

 

I want to try out the server. Hopefully I'll get less lag than elsewhere.

And that story about yiff made me giggle.
