Nah, I don't really finish anything I do in the sketchbook, since most of it is just to fill in time during my lunchbreak at work and actually feel productive (I'm kinda burned out over my job)

 

Ah, so just like me. Fair enough.

*sighs* The online community making great art and I'm just sitting here complimenting their awesome skill.

 

No reason you can't become just as skilled. It just takes a lot of time and effort to achieve.

 

And it hardly takes as much time as you would expect ether.

 

I think it depends mostly on the style you're aiming for. If you're trying to achieve something like Silverfox or Thanshuhai, you'll be in it for the long haul. And by long haul, I mean 20+ years potentially. For reference. It's taken me 11+ years to go from the skill level of the first picture, to the skill level of the second. And yes, both are drawn by me, the paper drawing I did when I was 11, and the second picture I did last night.

Really, all it takes is dedication. Anyone can learn to draw but it takes a long, long time. Even the ones who are "talented" need a lot of work to improve.

 

I'm not questioning that it takes dedication, especially if you want to be like Bob Ross. But if you want to just be able to sketch out something mildly good looking, it doesn't take as much effort as you would expect. I mean, I don't have a regular drawing schedule, but I drew my avi and I'm proud of it. I think the main issue at hand is more; Don't think you could never draw! Because that's what I thought, then I sat down one month and just watched videos and sketched vaguely, and realised, "Hey, I can do cool things too!"
