So, who here suffers from depression? What about manic depressive?

Just curious.

 

As mentioned in an earlier post. I have, and still do to some degree for the last few years. it it's worst form I attempted suicide more that 5 times, and was utterly rendered unable to do anything for a year and a half. While it's not as bad as back then, I still have minor depression to this day.

 

I'm in the worst of it, I... was in a hospital only 3 weeks ago because of an attempted suicide, and I'm very quiet here for fear of alienating myself like I have on other forums.

It's just, so hard...

A surprising amount of people suffer from depression, most are just uncomfortable sharing it. The best advice I can give is to talk with a therapist who understands depression. I personally suffer from severe depression and it's a living hell. What I do is just fill up my schedule with as many things as possible, no matter how pointless. Helps take your mind off things, at least for me.

 

I've seen therapists all my life, they haven't helped much.

 

Believe me I know this, I was and still am broken after my best friend and love died from leukemia a few years back.. But as Flying anonymoose so truthfully says, you have to occupy all the time you have, the more empty time you've got the more you end up going down the big spiral that leads to suicidal thoughts and self-loathing. It doesn't really matter what it is, so long as you enjoy that thing.

 

Manic depression? What's the difference between that one and regular depressions? Also, um, yes I have depression for quite a while now. Visit therapist and all that, too.

 

Manic depressive is similar to bipolar.

 

I've been suffering from major depression for the last eight years. It hit me hard during high school, so i didn't very good grades.
I've been recovering since then. It's taking a long time.
I'm also trying to get over my OCD, which is a major cause of my depression.
I try to think about foxes instead of sad things.

Manic depressive people (same thing as bipolar) are people who get manic moods as well as depressive ones. During manic moods they can feel really excited and do incredible things but then suddenly switch moods and lay in bed for the entire of the next day doing nothing.
Stephen Fry has bipolar disorder.

 

Well, the best thing we have for it we have is eachother, right?

And it hit me hard in high school too.
