In Fallen London, I got a weasel. And then I got to name him.

I should start playing that game. I play sunless sea, but haven't touched fallen London yet.

It's pretty interesting, with or without a weasel to call your own. I've had a blast going down the Watchful / Persuasive route, and playing as a gentleman scholar of sorts.

    *Sigh*
1 year and I already went through two headsets all with the same condition.
Can't hear out of one ear, and mic fails to work. Anyone know what could cause these?
(Right now I have to deal with a cheap-ass headphones that the cord barely exceeds 1 foot.)

That's oddly how most of my headsets go out: an ear suddenly stops working.

What was worse is it happened like 2 minutes ago, during a cs:go competitive game, and I'm the person that delivers all the info soo...

It probably means a frayed wire. It's natural.

My God, some of these web comics are older than you'd think.

I think Freefall started back in the late 90's.
    Now I feel really old.

Yeah, and how much time has passed in-comic? I wasn't paying attention to that when I reread the entire thing last week. Maybe a month?

A few comics that I have / still read:

    Kevin and Kell: 1995
    Sabrina Online: 1996
    Freefall: 1998
    Ozzy and Millie: 1998
    Schlock Mercenary: 2000
    Faux Pas: 2001
    Two Kinds: 2003
    Questionable Content: 2003

  18. It's typically a result of a wire losing contact in one ear. Honestly you could check it out by just opening up the headset and checking the contacts. If you have a soldering iron it's an easy fix. More difficult is if it's a break in the wire somewhere (but this is highly unlikely, it's difficult to damage the wire that badly). Can be difficult but you could theoretically locate the break in the wire, cut it of and resolder/wire the rest of the wire (or get a new wire happening). Would be a bit of a kludge job though and highly likely not worth the effort.

Usually happens from pulling on the wire due to harsh movement etc. which can pull the contact lose. Not much can be done to prevent it except a) be gentle with your headphones and b) buy higher quality headphones with a good build quality (will probably have better wire and connectors, soldering is probably done a lot better too)

The reason for one ear specifically going out is that because it's stereo sound each line (mic, L, R) are on their own wires, chances are you only pulled the contact for one wire so only the respective thing will have stopped working.

So since my headset broke i'm using these cheapo headphones that I had for maybe about 4 years.
These headphones can survive a beating, I can drive a freaking tank over these things and they would survive, I can throw these things in the sun's asscrack and they would survive.
But when I put it in my computer, I placed it in, accidentally gave it a slight tug and the f*ckin things sound broke. -.-
I think my Pc is cursed...
