Wow, just put Starbound on my laptop so I can play at work...

Here I am at work, beamed down to my first planet on a brand new character. The planet looks beautiful, and the aliens look like they evolved on the planet with similar coloring and features.

Here I am bringing down the tallest trees I have seen in the game, getting around 40 unrefined wood per tree. Things are going well as I harvest the initial resources starting out. As I'm walking along chopping trees, I see a power up thingy-ma-jig in a small crater. I go down excited to get a short boost in something, but as I hit E I see a green puff of gas and character lets out a cry of death.

I just sat here, looking at my screen in disbelief. The first power up booster, on the first word, of the first character on my laptop, and I die instantly.

I will never open up another power up booster again. I am disappoint. :lod:

Power boosts are more trouble than they are worth. The only positive benefit I've received from it are the speed and jump boosts; it either burns me or insta-poison kill me otherwise.

Yup, the shrines of DOOOOOMM...You have to be careful. I always try to tap E slowly while closing my eyes....

Your boss obviously planted it there. He knows.

That's impressive considering that he doesn't operate in the same state as me. But being in the IT industry, it wouldn't surprise me.

Send in them peons from the lower levels of tech support next time to test it.

It seems as if I always get the poison benefit when around friends, or they get it, and we all die.

That or the jump benefit, when near friendly NPCs, and the most ear rupturing sound erupts from it; it's okay though because everything is blue.

Yep, I pretty much leave those things alone now.

Ill go along without a jump or speed boost. Than risk getting murdered! :p

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I went the other direction and found another one at the top of a hill. I said "Eh why not, it can't happen again back to back on a freshly made world". NOPE. Piece of crap exploaded and I caught on fire.

    I am done.

Guys something is wrong with my game. It's possessed by a demon or something. I kept going left and found the start of a village. Night has just fallen and the baddies are up. As I approach the village, a guard comes out and jumps up in the air to swing at 2 flying baddies. These flying things flew across to where I am by getting hit from the NPC guard, and they blew up on me - which killed me.

    This is some boolsheet.

I've used those once and never had again. It's a death sentence.

Yeah just avoid them from now on. They are not worth it. At all....

Moral of the story: Starbound knows when you are playing at work* and punishes you accordingly.

*Which is why I am not playing at work. No, not at all. :X

I think I've gotten passed the bad stuff now. I just found a Glitch castle, and they are giving me phat loots. I didnt know the Glitch were aggressive.

keep your distance when activating them, if the smoke is green, run away, if sparks come out, run away. if its yellow run into it. if red things come out, run into them, if its blue, run into it.

They don't kill you if you stand far enough away

Clisen - Some NPC's will agro if you have your weapon in hand

In all seriousness, these capsules are a problem. If everybody is just avoiding them because they are more detrimental than beneficial, then they have failed their purpose. The negative effects should be minimal, and never be an auto kill.

I stopped touching those things a long time ago after the last 10 were either instant death or just shine. Pointless and dangerous. I actually dig them up now to make them go away.

Wish I could get a job that let me play videogames at work. :wut:

I am praying your work doesn't involve nuclear reactors and meltdowns.

Yeah those are mroe trouble then they are worth. The best current solution I have is stand at the very edge of their activation range. That will let you check the color cloud before it hits you.
I hope they get better effects in the future like dropping items soemtimes. Like ten bombs. I would risk instant death for ten bombs.
