Would Like to see Death Animations added soon.

    I would have to agree with this, the poof and their gone sort of thing just sort of seems to not mix well with the gameplay. I know its supposed to be slightly retroish in some aspects, but it just seems weird when you defeat enemies, and they just poof into a thing of meat, or some pixels (take an enemy that dies to fire damage, they just poof out of existence leaving their lunch pixels behind). The death animation it self wouldn't even have to have that much violence, maybe just have them do some death yell, fall down onto the floor (ragdoll physics if they can), then just sort of liquefy or something.

    My guess is mob and npc's deaths will be added later in beta.

    As much as this would be good, if this doesn't make it I would at least like to see some form of death message. If not both. :D

    Not sure what it would really look like since it goes pretty quickly to the reborn animation. If this happens to be really long, I have to say no. Short and simple would be fine.

    If we were to ever get death animations, I'd rather there be specific death animations for a small number of attack types, and then a generic death animation for just about every other attack in the game (and here's to hoping it leads to ragdolls that we can find when we return).
     
  7. +1 for ragdoll physics in a sprite based game.

    I'm fine with the way things are, I think my weird ass brain just fills in the cracks with imagination anyway, but death animations couldn't hurt(;)).

    Exactly. The Glitch should atomically explode on death. Floran should wither before dying. Humans head should swell and pop like a balloon when they run out of oxygen and someone should die like in the video below, just because. I typed overly dramatic death, it was the first thing that came up and fits with what I was thinking.

    id love to see more elaborate deaths in game! disappearing in a puff is fine most of the time because i usually just want the monsters to go away as im paying attention to diffenent things. But a mini boss that one shots me and forces me to come back for revenge and the surface ore it was standing by is a situation where i dont want it to go away, i want it to die! some detailed and awesome death anims would be just the thing for that :devil:

    if this game were being tailored just to me and my tastes the monsters that die would leave corpses for a few in game days, changing from a fresh corpse to a skeleton and eventually disappearing while in the meantime attracting carrion birds and the like to fill the population gap. the player would of course need an tool to dispose of corpses close by their house or base. my wheat feild stretches out to the right, id love to have a potters field heading left :)

    I'd like the option to suck up blood and gibs in a vacuum and shoot those gibs at not-slain enemies.
