Worst time to get hooked ever

I think I chose the absolute worst time to pick up this game. Played it long enough to fall in love with it, and then stopped playing because I didn't want to get too invested into Sunclaw. It's been maybe a week. This is the LONGEST week I've ever had. It feels like months. I'm not complaining that the patch is taking too long, (in fact, I'm impressed they patch so often.) I'm complaining that it *feels* like ages, and no other game seems worth playing right now. Starbound killed my interest in everything else. I've stopped playing Rogue Legacy and Torchlight II. I've stopped playing Mario on my game boy. How are you guys coping with the wait? I tried watching some Let's plays, but that was like standing in line at the burger stand when you're starving to death. I don't know what to do with myself. Is this what addiction feels like? Do I need to check in to Starbounder's Anonymous?

The moment this patch lands, the rest of my life is over. My dog can take care of herself. Work can wait.

 

My Steam backlog is keeping me quite busy...but it'll probably collect dust once more once the patch comes in.

 

I'm happy to wait, I'm in for the marathon not the sprint.

I've played it progressively less even before I knew about the last wipe as I didn't want to burn myself out before the eventual full release. Looking forward to the next update now though.

I have been watching continue? on youtube to pass the time. It makes me laugh, as they have a good dynamic.

 

I spend my times reading the forums in hopes that I'll see the patch was released earlier than expected.

Beyond that I read the mod forums to see if a new mod pops up that I want to try out before the wipe so that I know which authors to bug about getting their mods updated

It's not my most played game on steam but I anticipate it will probably come in 2nd or 3rd (out of 225+ games that I have on Steam) by the time they're done working on it, unless of course I get burned out on it in the near future. As long as they can keep adding new content to it, I don't anticipate that happening, but once new things to explore/experience drys up then I'm likely to move on.

 

I've only got twenty or so hours in, maybe a few days of play. I've got a huge Steam backlog too, but all I can think about when playing anything is "Well, it's not Starbound." It's like discovering your favorite flavour of ice cream, only for the grocery store to run out the day you go shopping. I still haven't decided what race to be. Maybe I should focus on that.

That's right, Starbound. You've ruined gaming for me, you magnificent bastard.
