Wooden Avian Ship: Can it be carved stone instead? (Their theme)

God, I really hope there are some extreme customization options to make ships use the designs of other races, like a human-style ship. I really love the idea of playing an Avian, but I do not think I could stand to look at that god-awful wooden/adobe style ship design for long. I really hope I don't have to be a human just because they have the only spaceship style that doesn't make me cringe to look at.

 

You don't like the floran ship design? I find it cool personally, but yes I agree the Avian ship design makes me cringe aswell.

 

My favourite ships are the Human and Apex ships, they look as though they actually belong in space.

 

For what it's worth, I like the terracotta color. Kind of reminds me of Cardassian ships.

I get that they wanted each races ship to be unique, but yeah...some of the designs, especially this one, leave me cold. Maybe ideas were running out? And wood and clay? While the clay might work, it seems like a space-faring race would have figured out aluminum at some point. I'd really like it if the races got a chance to swap ships, either at creation, or soon after. It's cosmetic, so I can't see why it'd matter too much.

Personally, I'm still waiting to see what the Novakid's ships will look like. I would have thought steampunk, but the Glitch beat them to that. Which is odd as it doesn't seem as medieval as it should. Again, hoping we can swap.

I like it. If you want golden blocks and such you can just add them inside the ship so it doesn't look monotone.

I think the intent is to allow the player to decorate it to hell and back themselves.

I like the design and color, although it probably won't hurt to make it look a little less like adobe.

 

If I remember, there was something in an interview with Tiyuri about ship customization, and I believe that he stated that you can add blocks and decoration items to ships like any other planets, but I'd need to go back and watch the interveiw to clarify, so maybe you will be able to cover up the ship background if you don't like it. The ship designs do really make the design aspect of choosing a race a lot more difficult, though. So many good ships c:

 

I wouldn't worry to much about that. My take is that they are space voyage worthy material just made to look like something else for aesthetic reasons. Like how poured concrete can be made to look like marble, bricks, cobblestone, etc. Of course that doesn't mean that you still do not like how it looks.

 

Looks like a kind of spacetraveling birdhouse. So i thing it just fits to the Avians and i like it. And like other guys already said its the starter ship that does not mean it is like this forever. Dont forget about paint tool and so on

 

I have to admit I giggle every time I see the Avian ship, oh well nothing says hull integrity like Plywood.

Are these just the starting ships? Can we upgrade? Maybe that is why it is wood.

 

Well, they are BIRDS. I does kind of make sense to be a in a wooden ship.

But I get where you're coming from, buts lets consider that these ships are empty. They may even look better or worse with or without the decor.

 

We don't even know if we can change the color of the ships yet.
