If you truly believe what you wrote here, then Im just appaled by the reading comprehension displayed. *Most* people are perfectly aware that CF is not developing this. *Most* people are complaining about a great number of things that CF is very willing to ignore and / or censor. Like the fact that the money we were told was going to the development of starbound is apparenly being used to fund other side projects. But lets not allow the truth to cloud the banhammer.
I'm slightly curious as to how CF's money is being used to fund side projects? As far as I know the other projects have had their own kickstarters/funding efforts. Also, I'm not banning or censoring anybody here... I guess I just dreamed that whole pirate game thing then? Also, on a side note on "publishing" games via kickstarter funding: I dont thing publishing means what you think it means.
So what exactly IS Chucklefish doing here, then? Exploiting the Starbound fans that are eagerly checking the Starbound website for updates for marketing?
"Hey guys, we'll publish your game. But instead of actually funding you, lets ask random people on the internet to just hand us some cash instead. I mean, we could afford to fund you, like other publishers do, but fans are willing to give us money for only a promise, so lets go with that."
Helping lesser known game developers to get some visibility? To be honest I'm quite glad they decided to publish Risk of Rain because I probably would have never heard of it otherwise. I don't see anything malicious in what they're doing as long as they're also still working hard on their original project.
They said in the OP that they are publishing the game but funding it through kickstarter. I read that. Did I read wrong?
Well, if they decided to fund it with their own capital I think people might get more up in arms about it (Like the pirate game, which you were right about ) Plus there would probably be less transparency and accountability for exactly how much money was designated for that particular project.
nah, he's a well known Agaran ALSO, someone bloody well explain what "side-projects" CF is running? Other than Tiy's harem, but I think we all would want one.
You know, why can't we just focus on some other game, instead of breathing down Chucklefish's necks? I understand you guys are concerned that there won't be any development, but you lose nothing by forgetting about this game for a few months then coming back.
