I havent been on the forums in a long while but if a moderator is going to give out warnings for people posting how they feel about chucklefish after they already backed them up and helped to hope speed development thats just ridiculous.
That isn't what I said. You can post whatever you want, just don't lose your cool. I feel like my previous post was pretty clear about that actually.
Yeah.. Now show me where that banner is on this one: www.playstarbound.com Oh.. That's right, it says Starbound... It's the home page of the game itself. Since CF is growing and publishing more and more games, wouldn't it be better to have an official CF site for that stuff? It could reduce confusion/anger coming from starbound fans eagerly waiting for news about the game. EDIT: I recall now that there is one actually, it's just not as elaborate
If you consider urls, which are locations not names (Universal Resource LOCATOR), to be the defining factor of what a website is... you're going to have a bad time. Because under that definition, I could send you to a lot of fucked up places. But it's cute to be that naive.
Ha ha, Honestly i was expecting people getting mad with the news. the game sounds really interesting. i hope this game end with a gamestyle like METROIDVANIA since i was looking for a good Metroidvania to play (since Igarashi left Konami i dont like the works of Mercury Steam and what they have done with Castlevania) i was expecting at least iga doing the Demon Castle Wars but its something never going to happen. Anyway 2 metroidvanias in the way, i cant wait for it
I will definitely never buy any other game from Chucklefish. Don't get me wrong, the game is great, the art is great, but the way you guys treat your costumers is ridiculous. If I ever get to buy one of your games again, I will only buy it when it is fully released. The biggest problem with Starbound is obviously the fact that the devs promise things they can't do. "We will have updates nearly every day! Epic ships! Amazing combat!"... I bet that the Starbound community would be way more happier if you guys didn't say such things. Just say "We will update the game when possible, it may take some months to get everything ready, so please be patient" and everyone will understand. What happened here? Everyone was waiting for an update on how the progress is going, and what they do? They advertise other games. Chuckelfish, this is a terrible moment to advertise your games because the community is impatiently waiting for updates. Many people got a really negative impression now and they will definitely not check that game.... The programmers and artists are doing an amazing job with the game. The problem is with the guys that are responsible for dealing with the community. They are not doing a good job. And the most ridiculous part (maybe not the most ridiculous, but still weird) is that some moderators are trying to censor the users. "Don't talk bad things about the game! If you are not willing to say awesome things about Chucklefish, don't even say anything or you will receive a warning!". Argh.
I'm sorry guys, nothing for 10 days and then another "look at this new game we've acquired"? In the last week, there has to be something development related you could have told us. This is the time where you pull out the funny anecdotes about silly bugs in testing, relate if progress has been made in a section of code, etc. Pull a Dilbert if you have to, just don't fluff then advertise to us. I know my last post got a little glossed over in the last comment storm, but please go take a look at what Dan Fedor does at Blue Bottle Games. I'm not saying to post that much(it would be nice ), but the *content* of the posts are what matters. He gives a rough overview of what he's focused on that day, if anything big has been struck off the list, and random other life stuff. I know that's not as easy on a team. Focus on your victories and I guarantee you that you'll have stuff to write about. Right now though, I think quite a lot of us are feeling like "the customer" or "the pocketbook", especially when you're advertising two new projects in such a short time that have such distant goals(Q4 of next year for this one). Unless they're hosting it themselves, adding another domain requires at most a day or so of configuration and purchasing the domain from a registar. If you're hosting the files from a internal server(from a office or such), things get a bit more complicated with setting up virtualizations and such, but the end cost should only hit on the domain. And registering .com, .net and .org sites are SUPER inexpensive - .com is 10$ a year last I checked. .org is even cheaper. Unless you're trying to grab one of the new TLDs, you should be good. Most providers that rent out rack space don't care one way or another how many sites you're hosting. If you're renting equipment, the rules usually still are the same. It comes down to technical know how and drive. The reasons for not doing feels like a marketing play though, and a bad one at that, as there is few reasons they could not move buisness stuff to another site(except that it wouldn't get the same exposure as playstarbound.com, hence marketing). I'll be watching Wraithmarsh with interest, as it's definatly a art style and genre I enjoy(sounds kind of cthulhu-esque, and I love the RPG elements), but as a customer I'm not happy. Edit: I found Chucklefish.org! Awesome! That's such a neat little site. So... than it's just getting the marketing fluff over there I guess. THE PENGUIN IS SO CUTE!!!(Yes, it is registered to chuckefish. Yay for whois)
You donated, supported the game, you feel the need to defend it, and that's cool. Buuut I think people are justified to be worried about progress on this game, especially after the recent Towns fiasco. After already receiving a truck load of money before a game is finished, you have to agree the temptation to just cash out and run is always there. It's silly to put absolute faith that a bunch of people you don't know will go through 100% on promises. I'm not saying Chucklefish is a seedy company or anything like that, they are better and more forthcoming with information than most early access game devs, but you always have to voice your concern.
I completely agree with this. I just wish that "voicing your concern" didn't amount to "bashing the company and waging an unofficial war campaign against them" for some people.
So now we are not allowed to talk bad things about the mods as well? You are just making this worse. The problem here is that the mods are treating the users like kids.
This is honestly a pretty boring cycle, this exact situation has happened multiple time now. Starbound devs advertise other game in development, and then get surprised forum goers get very upset and rage out. Then Devs come in somewhat attack on more vocal or volatile members of the forum. its almost like a form of self destruction.
OMG, stop with this people! Your life does not revolve around Starbound. You can survive without constant updates! And no the Developers are still not your bitch!
Hahah, not really - feel free to say what you want to say as long as it's respectable and within the rules. A couple posts were removed, yeah, but claiming that moderators censor people who have negative opinions in regards to the way Chucklefish are handling things is pretty absurd. Anyhow, this isn't the point of the topic, I was just dropping my two cents. Other than that, I'm pretty hype for this game.
Can I join you guys? I'd rather not be living in this third rate apartment. While I might not like leaving MIT, this sounds like a damn sweet setup you got there
Hey ANY news from chucklefish is good to me! I instantly fell in love with Witchmarsh and I'll probably get it for my birthday! Thank you Chucklefish and I hope you guys keep up the good work!
