I think Chucklefish has made most people wary to support any of these games because they show just how unreliable some indie devs can be.
and when exactly is that going to be. after the next news post about the next game chuclkefish is going to publish. when i pre-ordered the game chucklefish had run out of cash and wanted are help to finish starbound. now it appears chucklefish is the EA of inde games development. .
I'm so looking forward to an update so I can smash half the Steam forum's faces into the post and grind them in a bit. It's sickening how vile people are getting.
:: decides to see what starbound is up too after forgetting it exists for 3 months:: Front page of PLAYSTARBOUND.com "hey guys look at this other game we are publishing!" -___- Why do I have dejavu about this? seems familiar. Thats right its why I forgot about this game
Lol, my comment was deleted. This is totally making me feel like I want to support Chucklefish and their future endeavors.
Dat music. When the Novakids come out for release I hope they have some themes like that. The rag-timey sounds fits. Also it looks like an interesting game overall. Also, congrats on getting most of the team in one place.
We are sitting on tinder with that topic again arent we? Tinder which ignites next to C7H5N3O6... compressed into high density... in a iron catridge.
Still no update. This game has so much promise, but I've seen this kind of behavior from amateur developers before. I'm not saying Chucklefish isn't doing any work, but there is a clear inability to deliver on promises here. Please give ample warning before the game is declared complete so I have time to ask for a refund if it isn't actually finished.
I'm interested in the game. Looks like Risk of Rain...sorta...but maybe better. (I still enjoyed RoR.)
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm kind of curious about what role a publisher fills in these kinds of cases? As far as I know (feel free to correct me) traditionally a publisher is there to provide services like funding, distribution, and marketing while the dev writes the game. But for these kickstarter games, the funding is coming from kickstarter, the distribution is handled by Steam / Desura / whatever digital vendor you're using, and the marketing is generally pretty slim. Is it just a branding thing or something?
Wow people, you need to seriously calm down First of all, Partnering to be the publisher a new game is NOT going to take away from Starbound. All of the development of this new game will be handled by its developers (Inglenook, NOT Chucklefish) and Chucklefish will continue to develop Starbound without having to worry about Witchmarsh is ready to be published, which won't be until late 2015. Second, Game development takes A LOT of time. I know it can be infuriating to wait for updates and even news, but honestly Chucklefish is one of the fastest of the indie studios I currently watch. The team is going through a pretty big move right now so of course they are going to be uncoordinated and progress will temporarily drop. Not only that, but the fact that they have to divert development time to fixing bugs each time they go to update the game will also slow the process, so It's no wonder they're moving slower than before beta. Third, the reason that this is a Chucklefish forums but under the url of playstarbound is that this site was created long before chucklefish decided to help publish other indie games. This was a very generous thing for them to do as it would allow for other indie developers to put their games to market without having to go through a large publisher and surrender a large chunk of profits. They also adapted their forums to provide a place for them, is that such a crime? Web hosting isn't free, and if the name of the website annoys you that much then why don't you offer to buy the new domain name for them. --------------------------------------------------- Also @mollygos I think the kickstarter page says 'Witchmarsh Twelve' instead of 'Seven'
you can play the apologist all you like the lack of progress speaks for itself. at the end of the day a man is judged not by his words but by his actions.
Thanks misho thats really deep. Anyway, go ahead and keep posting everyone but if you get mad at video games I'm going to hand out warning points because you should literally never get mad at video games. Unless like a truck filled with video games tips over and falls on your car, that might be ok.
I think some people are taking this way too seriously and today's news were an example. I consider the fact that we got early-access a bonus, a good bonus. Not every game company launches early-releases, in fact, some even give you pretty expensive pre-release packages that people buy whether there's an open beta or not. I think that the those who are complaining today seem to forget that they got into a game that is basically still in development and we don't know how long its going to take to be completed. The "problem" in all this is CF released it for public. Had it never been released, they would have all the time in the world to finish things at their own pace and people wouldn't complain all the time about whether there's an update or not... I know CF probably doesn't mean this message I'm about to convey but... it feels like by showcasing other's games, like they did today, that they are telling us to "go play something else while we finish this". And I think this is what people should do. Stop blowing things out of proportion like its the end of the world and go play something else. When you come back, maybe there will be news. Can we all be friends and hug each other now?
Right?! Kinda like a Steampunk Risk of Rain, but with Metroidvania aspects. I'm kinda excited for it! PREPARE TO EAT MY MONEY
I'm excited. The art reminds me of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, which was breathtaking, and this one looks like it has better gameplay. Co-op is a great thing too!
Probably an awkward question but does anyone knows any other games, preferably RPGs, with the same art style as Witchmarsh and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery? I think it grew on me.
