You need to go no further than to look at the top of this game. It says "Chucklefish Games" forums - I guess that explains everything. Tbh I don't mind much about the lack of SB updates or the random variety / shout-outs we get, makes for some nice stuff to read on the side. EDIT: LOL! Darklight, we both said the same thing at the same time xD
The url can even be called MagicalLandOfPotatoes.com, its the content of the website that matters and in this case, that includes both SB and other Chucklefish news. They could probably open another website to clear away the confusion but those are extra expenses from their part. Hosting a website ins't free, you know? Specially if you pay for providers to keep it up all the time on their servers. Would you rather that they spend the money you gave them on paying for another website, or make the game?
They have very little to do with the game while it's in development. Once it goes to distribution / early access, then they'll have work to do on it. Until then it's a pretty little banner to add to the collection.
Ladies, please. Stop, get a nice cold drink and chillax. Gosh. You people really don't understand what Chucklefish are going through? If you came here to complain about Starbound and the lack of progress go elsewhere. Anyways. This game has a kinda gloomy feel and an interesting atmosphere. Loving the art too! This game looks very promising, and after learning Leth was working on it wasn't sure how much better it could get. But since you guys are now publishing it... Wow. You guys are awesome.
And yet they are too busy to even answer a modders messages until 2 months later because "omg, my mailbox is like so full" . Chucklefish has one priority, make a ton of money off of everyone elses work. I once really really held so much respect for them as a team but every single update has shown just how far up their own butts they are. I am sure the million white knights will show up soon to defend them.
Lovely catch-22 you put us in, If people speak in support of CF, were "white knights" and only defending the company due to some weird variant of Stockholm syndrome. If we don't say anything, it's assumed the silent majority agree with you. Screw that.
Yeah please try to refrain from arguing in circles about what the websites url is and what kind of content should be on the front page. Feel free to share your opinions/thoughts while being respectful of other peoples' opinions/thoughts on the subject at hand, although it'd be pretty nice if you guys didn't devolve this into a "Starbound isn't updating up to par with how fast I want them to!" and whiteknights starting pointless bickering.
That could very well be possibility, however, its not very difficult to change the website's url. Its currently SB probably because that's the "major" game they're focusing on but after its done and they move on to another project, the url may very well be changed to --insert new game title-- to befit it. But I disgress, its a pointless argument and I have no problems whatsoever with how it currently works. People who argue about it are probably just bored or OCD about it. Lack of Starbound updates makes impatient people grumpy.
Lol my entirely relevant, and not at all repetitive comment got deleted. It's not like there's enough comments here that it's too cluttered or anything, lol, oh well.
Why on earth would they do that though? Most game companies have pages for their games and then a page for their company, it's silly to change the url to whatever their most popular game is at the moment.
The sad thing is, the first thought I had when I first heard about this partnership was "I really hope people don't get angry about this one". Guys. Listen. Starbound isn't going anywhere. It's still the main focus and the moving is done. We're gonna see more Starbound soon. Publishing other games is good for both Chucklefish and for the developers because it helps get things heard of. Newcomers to the game will see the Chucklefish logo.
So you call yourselves a publisher, but are not actually funding the game yourselves and are trying to get people to donate money instead? I'd be ashamed. But then again, I have principles.
To note, it's being made by these guys, not the development team of Starbound. And the funding is going through a Kickstarter, which means I doubt it's gonna be a big thing.
You wont get a single penny from me again. Alot of time has passed. I was patiently waiting for content. Waiting for tech updates (like finally fixing all the threating problems).Waiting for interface updates (scrollbars, mouse control event listeners, basic user expected shortcuts,..) Waiting for ship upgrades. Waiting for the fleet that you dropped after we pledged you. Whatever you guys do on your workdays, from the (neutral) customers point of view it doesnt fit the requirements of finishing an early access game at all. You guys are painfully slow and uncoordinated. /thread
I don't think anyone is angry about the partnership, it just seems like Chucklefish is capitalizing on a niche gaming community that invested in one specific product. I would wager that very few people follow this blog for updates on new indie titles that Chucklefish is publishing, especially when they all look identical. It would be much better if the updates on other games were reserved to a specific website, or maybe a separate blog, or maybe in a small portion of a news letter, but certainly the games shouldn't be showcased on a blog titled "Starbound".
Congratulations on moving in the new office! May I suggest some whips and high heels to help you boss around the men there? It would speed up production, and they would come to like it... eventually.
Jesus Christ how many games are you going to publish before even finishing your own? This is getting ridiculous.
